Dear Thomas Mathew,

Criticism is an inevitable element in democracy and always existed in democratic societies.  Mr. Manmohan Singh and Mr. Rahul Gandhi may be good from your point of view.  I am not belonging to any political party and I share the layman's feelings.  I have concrete reasons to criticize them. India is really passing through a very critical phase where life of everybody is becoming more and more intolerable because of hike in prices, corruption and scarcity of employment. . We have given the chance to  the "economist`` and ``best name" but they have failed us and why should we not sit down and think of something better for the sake of our growing generations?

Dr. Manmohan Singh is a typical Indian, honest, reticent, timid & decent, who has been caught in quagmire of dirty coalition politics. However these qualities are not enough to lead a nation like India. He was an accidental prime minister.  He does not have any political background and he cannot understand the common man's suffering.  He has no courage to take bold decisions and made India a global headline of corruption and bad governance. He must be the only leader of a government in any mature democracy who could afford to dissociate himself from his own corruption tainted Cabinet and take refuge in the make-believe of "see nothing, hear nothing, do nothing". The reform measures unleashed by Manmohan government in the past are suspicions.  He is all about what a leader should not be.

Rahul Gandhi's report card is certainly poor. He has proved to be nothing but a mute spectator in politics, who comes forward like a flash and disappears the same way. He has not taken any responsibility so far, but only enjoying the power because of dynasty politics of congress. He doesn't even open his mouth on any important issues like corruption, black money, Anna Hazare movement, 2G spectrum allocation scam and the most recent coal blocks allocation, Delhi gang rape case  etc, when even the common man is talking about them.  His silence or rare remarks on important issues has only sent a message across that he is least concerned about the plight of crores of people of this country who look up to him.

Rahul failed to impress voters during his campaign in the state Assembly polls. He also lacks knowledge in administration, foreign policy and he has maintained silence on economic issues. Rahul Gandhi lacks the ability to run the country. He has not been able to rise up to the challenge. Forget about leadership; what has been his performance in the parliament where he has been a member? Just nothing! He does not  even attended the parliament session in full, presented only 24 days out of 86 days. How can he be a responsible leader or PM?

He never struggle to become the most eligible candidate for prime minister-ship. For him, politics is all about the rewards of inheritance and the possibilities of entitlement.  For Rahul, reading the biographies of his grandmother and great grandfather will be the finest education he can get in leadership. He has no vision and capacity to head the country. Rahul Gandhi can`t fool people by just having food at poor people's hut.  It is only the sycophants who are trying to show case him as the scion of dynasty so that they can loot the country under his shade.

When it comes to choosing our leader, we Indians though understood to be very intelligent, liberal, and peace loving, all of a sudden become dumb, loose our intelligence, shove ourselves into religion, caste and creed. We do not express our views with rightful reasoning and politicians are using this weakness. They laugh at our illiterate thinking which comes even from the minds of so called intellectuals.

If we continue doing this and do not focus on building `real` democratic systems that offer us a chance to lead better lives as citizens of this country, we will be led into the pit time over time by these so-called `leaders.`

What India needs is a sea change in all fields. For that a leader with national outlook is necessary. It needs a leader who can inspire the base and invigorate India with the force of ideas.  India, too, is waiting for a leader who can survive the storm and redeem the Republic.

Every single person of the country must stand up, respect each other and unite at least when it comes to choosing a right leader.

Regards,

Thomas Scaria

Dear All

I do not know what people have against Rahul Gandhi or Manmohan Singh. Many who comment about them may not be remembering  Morarji Desai, Charan Singh, Chadrasekhar, I.K. Gujral  and Deva Gowda , all non-congress Prime Ministers, who could not complete their term. Do we want such an era when we had political instability and when floor crossing was rampant. At least Congress Prime Ministers bring stability to the Government.  It is Manmohan Singh who opened India's economy and now people do not have to go to Gulf to bring TVs and other electronic goods. We have lost count of  the makes of the Indian Cars and models on the roads. People who Rahul Gandhi knows how he has cleaned Youth Congress and NSUI  by not allowing criminals to contest the organisational elections, with the help of FAME ( Foundation for Advance Management of Elections) formed by Mr. Lyngdo former Chief Election Commissioner and K.J. Rao  the hero of Bihar elections. . You ask any Youth congress or KSU person in Kerala and they will agree with me.

Yesterday it was in news that Chawtalas have been awarded 10 years imprisonment for corruption. Om Prakash Chowtala is the son of Devi lal, who was our non-congress Deputy Prime Minister. Devi Law spoke in an election rally that if the son of a farmer (himself) is made the Prime Minister he would provide water with life to the farmers, ie without taking out the electricity from it  which would give a better harvest. He also said that if he is made the Prime Minister he would run the Government Presses on overtime to print notes and distribute  to the people so that every one would become rich. ( Thank God he did not become the PM)

How many of the erstwhile colonies who got independence along with India are having  continued democracy. See our neighbour Pakistan, how many times it had gone through military rule. See the case of another neighbour Myanmar. Bangla Desh's history is also not better. How many of the African countries are having continued democratic rule.

To see the greatness of our country, you should compare it with countries of similar standing not with Gulf countries which are built on petro dollars or with European countries which became rich from the wealth of colonies. With three times the size of India and less than one third of its population, USA's economy is limping, where as we are still moving forward, though slowly.  I have had the occasion to live in 12 developing   countries during my official career and I can confidently say that India is the cheapest country in the world  to live in, I take potato, which is universally available as the yardstick, no where in the world you get potatoes for Rs.10 a kg.

At least here we can walk along the road without the fear of being shot through the head or being blown up by a suicide bomber; I am not forgetting the crime rate and occasional terrorist attacks at some places. My car and office were  bombed and one suicide bomber exploded in front of my office, during my three years stay in Afghanistan.

I conclude with a shocking news. I had occasion to live in Tajikistan, a part of erstwhile USSR, for some time in 2000 and my maid who used to wash and press the clothes and clean the house was the Pediatrician  of the city hospital. Shocked, I shared the news with my colleague who was a Britisher and he said that his maid was the cardiologist of the hospital and the broker who provided the house was another doctor in the hospital. Their monthly salary was 20 dollars and the 100 dollars we used to give them was a bonanza to them. ( I am not joking)

Thank God we are born in India and be proud to be an Indian

T. Mathew

Mr. Rahul Gandhi will definitely become the Prime Minister of India because he got the primary qualification required for Indian politician i.e. hypocrisy.  He is a hypocrite like other politicians.  From his speech it seems he is not living in this world perhaps he might have came from other planet like Mars.

It is very easy to fool Indians since we are already divided in the name of religion, cast, creed, language etc. These dissembler politicians are taking the advantage of that.  Until we unite to save our country, politicians will continue to exploit us.
Till then we deserve only Rahul Gandhi, Manmohan Singh ………………….. etc

What a speech by Mr. Rahul, the next PM (if elected Congress to Power).
He was speaking things like that he joined Congress at Jaipur ONLY.
All, including Mr. Antony, were concerned about common people (Am Admi). Before this Congress session they increase Diesel price, LPG price etc. etc. because they are concerned with Common people!!!!!!
In Kerala, KSRTC will be closed because of this Diesel price.
Everything, will increase on a/c of Diesel price. Yesterday, some excise duty increase, God will further increase (already it is approx. 24000 for 8 gms). This is also a gift for Kerala people.
Everywhere prices will go up and Leaders are worried about common people????
