जब टूटी थी चूड़ियाँ , वो हँसे थे......
आज उठाया है बोझ अपना .......
अपने कंधो पे तो लोग हँसते हैं......
ताने कसते हैं लोगो का क्या है लोग हँसते हैं......
तन नहीं बेचा मैंने, इस बात पे गर्व है...
लोगो का क्या है लोग तो हँसते हैं.....!!

डाक्टर साहब ! डाक्टर साहब ! मेरा मुन्ना बच तो जाएगा? रो- रोकर हलकान हुई माँ ने डाक्टर का सफ़ेद कोट खींचते हुए पूछा.
- अरे ! पहले पैसे तो जमा करवाओ तब देखेंगे. जाओ जल्दी करो.
- साहब ! पैसों का इंतजाम तो सुबह ही हो सकेगा. मेरा खसम तो दूर देश गया है, बस रात भर की मोहलत दो साहब ! मैं आपकी पाई पाई चुका दूँगी.
- देखिये ये प्राइवेट अस्पताल है यहाँ पर पहले फीस लेते हैं तब मरीज को देखने की इजाजत है.
- साहब मेरा मुन्ना ऐंठ रहा था मरा जा रहा था तभी तो यहाँ लाई हूँ. हम कोई भीख नहीं मांग रहे हैं मोहलत मांग रहे हैं. बस कल सुबह तक इंतज़ार कीजिये.
- आप मुझे काम करने दें इलाज तो तभी होगा जब पैसे जमा हो जायेंगे, जाईये आप.
माँ कीआँखों से बेबसी में अविरल अश्रुधार बह रही थी. मगर किसी का दिल नहीं पसीजा.
नर्स ने झल्लाकर कहा- बेड खाली कीजिये , और भी मरीज आने हैं. जब पैसा हो मरीज को ले आना.
उसने अपनेचार साल के मुन्ने को कंधे पर उठाया और घर कीओर चल पड़ी. मुना बुरी तरह तप रहा था और सांसें बहुत जोर- जोर से चल रहीं थीं. तभी मुन्ने ने जोर से हिचकी ली और उसकी आँखें पलट गयीं.
माँ का कलेजा पत्थर हो गया घर में जाकर वह बिलकुल भी नहीं रोई. मुन्ने के माथे पर पट्टियां करती रही. सुबह ही उसने बाजार में अपने सारे जेवर बेच डाले और पुनः मुन्ने को ले जाकर बेड पर लिटा दिया.
लो डाक्टर साहब, मैं पैसे ले आई हूँ. और उसने सारे पैसे टेबल पर फेंक दिए. डाक्टर साहब ने नब्ज़ टटोली. अरे ये तो मिटटी है...अब इसका कुछ नहीं हो सकता.
डाक्टर साहब ! अब इसका कुछ क्यों नहीं हो सकता? अब तो पैसे भी ले आई हूँ. जगाइए मेरे मुन्ने को...मुझे उसके साथ बात करनी है...उसे लोरी सुनानी है.
डाक्टर कभी लाश को देख रहा था और कभी टेबल पर पड़े पैसों को....उसकी हिम्मत बिखर चुकी थी....पैसों की भूख जिंदगी को निगल चुकी थी. डाक्टर ऐंठन महसूस कर रहा था मन में.......
