[www.keralites.net] " London(Fast- twice a week to live a longer life)-1400 years ago the Prophet PBUH"

SubhanAllah. New research suggests we fast twice a week to live a longer life. 1400 years ago the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa salam) taught us to fast Mondays and Thursdays.

Fast twice a week to live a longer life
The second type is fasts prescribed at specific times, which vary, with some being weekly, some monthly and some annual. The weekly fasts are on Monday and Thursday, on which days fasting is mustahabb. It was narrated that 'Aa'ishah said: "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays." (al-Nasaa'i, 2320; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami' al-Sagheer, 4827). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, and he said: "Those are two days on which people's deeds are shown to the Lord of the Worlds, and I want my deeds to be shown to Him when I am fasting." (al-Nasaa'i, 2358; Ibn Maajah, 1740; Ahmad, 8161; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami', 1583). He was asked about fasting on Mondays and he said, "On that day I was born and on that day revelation came to me." (Muslim, 1162).

London, Apr 26 (ANI): Fasting twice a week could be the key to a longer life by slashing the risk of a host of killer diseases, a new study has revealed.

Research shows dramatically cutting the amount of calories you eat for two days can keep obesity, heart disease and diabetes at bay, the Daily Express reported.

The revolutionary weight-loss plan restricts calorie intake for 48 hours, like the 48 Hour Diet by top nutritionist Amanda Hamilton, published last week.

She shared her easy to follow plan which promises to not just shift the pounds but improve general health and mental wellbeing.

Researchers have backed her methods of intermittent fasting and say it is as effective as weight loss surgery, without the cost or risk.

The scientific review suggests fasting diets may help those withdiabetes and cardiovascular disease.

A review published in the British Journal of Diabetes and Vascular Disease by a team led by James Brown from Aston University in the West Midlands highlights evidence from clinical trials which shows fasting can limit inflammation, improve levels of sugars and fats in your circulation and cut blood pressure.

By fasting, the body is more efficient in selecting which fuel to burn, improving metabolism.

The plan is to restrict calories on alternative days or on two specific days each week which are classed as "fasting days".

On these, women usually aim to consume less than 500 calories and men less than 600.

This type of intermittent fasting has been shown in trials to be at least as effective as counting calories every day to lose weight.

Scientists have known since the 1940s that intermittent fasting can cut the incidence of diabetes after trials on animals.

But recent studies have also confirmed that cutting calorie intake could reverse Type 2 diabetes in some people.

It could also help fight conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Researchers measured improved pancreatic function and found fewer fatty deposits associated with insulin resistance present in those fasting.

Scientists say it has some cardiovascular benefits that appear similar to exercising, such as improving blood pressure and heart rate and lowering cholesterol. (ANI)

FASTING ON MONDAYS and THURSDAYS

al-Nasaa'i, 2320.

a great opportunity to ask الـــلّــه for any wish related to this world and akhirah as the dua of a fasting person is not rejected according to hadiths, so brothers and sisters do avail this opportunity إنشاء الـــلّــه

It was narrated that 'Aa'ishah ( رضي الله عنه said: "The Messenger of Allaah (ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ

ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ) was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays." (al-Nasaa'i, 2320.

The Messenger of Allah (ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ

ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ) said; Three supplications will not be rejected (by الـــلّــه ), the supplication of the parent for his child, the supplication of the one who is fasting, and the supplication of the traveler. [al-Bayhaqi, at-Tirmidhi -Sahih]

The Prophet (ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ

ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ) was asked about fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, and he said: "Those are two days on which people's deeds are shown to the Lord of the Worlds, and I want my deeds to be shown to Him when I am fasting." (al-Nasaa'i, 2358; Ibn Maajah, 1740; Ahmad,3).

He was asked about fasting on Mondays and he said, "On that day I was born and on that day revelation came to me." (Muslim, 1162).

So What exactly is stopping us fasting these extra days to gain reward, lessen our sins, and إنشاء الـــلّــه reach Jannah Al Firdaus? You can't use the excuse that 'There's no time' because it requires no time at all! See how easy الـــلّــه Aza Wajal has made it for us! سُبْحَان الله

Sunan Ibn Majah- 1740 It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (saw) used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays. It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, why do you fast on Mondays and Thursdays?" He said: "On Mondays and Thursdays Allah forgives every Muslim except two who have forsaken one another. He says: 'Leave these two until they reconcile.'" (Hasan)

Muslim, 1162

Abu Qatada Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's Massenger (may peace be upon him) was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said:

It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me.
