ആദ്യ ദൗത്യത്തില്‍ത്തന്നെ പിഴവൊന്നുമില്ലാതെ ഭൂവലയമതില്‍ ഭേദിച്ചു എന്നതാണ് നേട്ടമായിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതുവരെ വിവിധ രാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിയ 51 ചൊവ്വാദൗത്യങ്ങളില്‍ 30 ഉം തകര്‍ന്നടിഞ്ഞത് ഈ ഘട്ടത്തിലായിരുന്നു. അമേരിക്ക, റഷ്യ, യൂറോപ്യന്‍ സ്പേസ് ഏജന്‍സി തുടങ്ങിയവയുടെയെല്ലാം ആദ്യ ദൗത്യങ്ങള്‍ ഈ ഘട്ടത്തില്‍ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. സമീപകാലത്ത് റഷ്യയുടെയും ചൈനയുടെയും ദൗത്യങ്ങള്‍ ഭൂവലയം ഭേദിക്കാനാകാതെ ഭൂമിയില്‍ത്തന്നെ പതിച്ചു.

 
28 ദിവസമായി ഭൂമിയുടെ ആകര്‍ഷണവലയത്തില്‍ ഭ്രമണം ചെയ്ത മംഗള്‍യാന്‍ ബുധനാഴ്ച പുലര്‍ച്ചെയാണ് ഭൂപരിധി വിട്ട് കുതിച്ചത്. പുലര്‍ച്ചെ 1.14 ന് പേടകം 9.25 ലക്ഷം കിലോമീറ്ററിനപ്പുറം എത്തി. ഒരു ഇന്ത്യന്‍ നിര്‍മിത പേടകം എത്രയും ദൂരം എത്തുന്നത് ആദ്യമാണ്.

 
പൂര്‍ണമായി സൂര്യന്റെ ആകര്‍ഷണവലയത്തിലായതോടെ പേടകത്തിന്റെ വേഗം സെക്കന്‍ഡില്‍ 32 കിലോമീറ്ററായി ഉയര്‍ന്നു. വ്യാഴാഴ്ച പുലര്‍ച്ചെയോടെ മംഗള്‍യാന്‍ 18 ലക്ഷം കിലോമീറ്ററിലധികം പിന്നിടുമെന്ന് ISRO അറിയിച്ചു. പേടകത്തിലെ എല്ലാ സംവിധാനങ്ങളും മികച്ച രീതിയില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

 
ഉപഗ്രഹത്തില്‍നിന്ന് സന്ദേശം ഭൂമിയിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചും എത്തുന്നതിനും പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചപോലെ സെക്കന്‍ഡുകളുടെ കാലതാമസം ഉണ്ടായിത്തുടങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചൊവ്വയുടെ സമ്പൂര്‍ണപഠനത്തിനായി അഞ്ച് പരീക്ഷണ ഉപകരണങ്ങളുമായി അടുത്തവര്‍ഷം സെപ്തംബര്‍ 24ന് മംഗള്‍യാന്‍ ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലെത്തും. നാല്‍പത് കോടി കിലോമീറ്ററാണ് പേടകത്തിന് യാത്ര ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരുന്നത്.
