[www.keralites.net] The Ripple Effect

When you throw a stone into a pond, you'll see a splash and hear a specific sound generated by the touch of stone with the water. You will notice circles rippling out from the point where stone hit the water. The stone touched the water only once however the number of waves was more than that. Did you also notice that you did one simple act of throwing a stone but it resulted in several waves generation in all directions travelling to a large distance? This is what we call Ripple Effect.
If you closely observe your day to day life, you will notice that most of your acts are generating ripples in the society since a lot of people are getting affected either positively or negatively. If you are doing a positive act, the ripple effect is going to be positive. For example, if you help your friend or colleague, there is a most likely chance that he will help you and others when he finds you or others in any crisis. Hence I believe that positive acts result in positive ripples and negative effects generate negative ripples. Since this article is going to be read by all kind of intellectuals so I will summarize some basic example of positive and negative ripples. Article written by Junaid Tahir (mjunaidtahir at gmail dotcom)
1-    When you share some inspiring article/video/story with your friends through email, Facebook, Google Plus, blog, website or any other online media, it will have a positive impact on hundreds of lives; Just to elaborate, if you have sent this article by email to 100 friends and only 20 of those share the same information with their colleagues/friends then this article will reach and inspire another 20*100 = 2000 people. This won't stop here since these 2000 people are going to share that with another thousands of people so the article consequently touches millions!
2-   When you work on some humanity service project (for example, giving some money for charity on monthly basis, opening an orphan house, installing water tanks in areas where water is not available to drink, visiting hospitals to help poor people etc) you are generating an unstoppable ripple effect. Hundreds of people will get inspired by you and start doing the same (more or less) acts.
3-   When you want to show your driving 'skills' and 'thrills' by bad or speedy driving while your friends or family members are with you, you are encouraging them to do the same when they are given a chance. These friends will probably do the same and encourage more people for this bad act. Down the road in 6 month you might 100+ rash drivers!

This paragraph is for people who believe in life after death: If we closely think, the positive ripples can become a source of Sadqa Jaria (continuous earning) which is extremely required after your death. If you have done something similar to Point-1 and Point-2, these deeds will keep sending you the Hasanat (currency of Aakhirah) in your after-death-bank-account. Always remember that dollars, pounds or euros wont help you on the day of Judgment, the thing which will help you is your acts of kindness and their usage by the society. If you inspire and convince more and more people for any good deed (by your words or by doing the task actually) you are basically ensuring your share in the Hasanat which they is going to do (while their share will not be impacted).

Conclusion: Positive Acts of kindness can bring magical results on earth. Everyone needs to understand the concept that all of his/her acts are generating ripples in the society which are either improving or polluting the society.
Do you audit yourself on how much pollution or prosperity you are contributing to the society?

[www.keralites.net] 7 Things You Should Add to Your Stop Doing List...Right Now!

You probably make lists of things to do and follow them through. But what about the things you should stop doing? Successful people do not do the following things but chances are you still do. Make a decision to add these to your "stop doing list" these from today going forward:

1.      Making Excuses. Successful people do not blame others or make excuses or complain about their bad luck. They take full responsibility for their lives. They know that success and failure lie in their hands. So stop being a victim, stop whining and stop making excuses.

2.     Drifting. Winners have a plan. They have a direction and a purpose. They do not drift through life hoping for the best. They set goals and then set about achieving them.  If you approach each day in a happy go lucky way then stop. Stop drifting and start planning. Develop a vision of a successful you. List what you have to do to get there. Plan your work then work your plan.

3.     Sitting in Front of a Computer All Day (or worse still…a TV). Sure there are some important things you can do sitting at your screen but do not spend all day there. Get out and meet people, network, learn. Do things with the people you want to lead or help or do business with.

4.     Putting Things Off. Procrastination is the enemy of success. Decide on your objective, list out the tasks you have to complete, prioritize them and then get on with the top ones. We all suffer the temptation to put off the jobs we fear or dislike.  Bite the bullet. Eat the frog. Do the job.

5.
Just the Easy Stuff. Which tasks do you spend most time on? The important, the urgent, the easy or the routine? If you spend most of your time on easy or less important tasks then stop. You should focus first on the most important jobs, the ones that will move you towards your strategic objective. You should delegate or ignore the low value activities.

6.
Sitting in Ineffective Meetings. Do you waste time at work in low-value meetings? Most office workers do. Every meeting should have a clear purpose, an agenda and a skilled chairperson who keeps the meting focussed on delivering its objectives.  Do not go to poor meetings – just ask for a summary of agreed actions.

7.
Limiting your Ambition. Successful people have enormous self-belief, drive and ambition. They hold themselves to high standards. Are you holding yourself back? Have you lost some of your self-belief and confidence? Start afresh. Set yourself ambitious goals. Remind yourself of your skills and achievements. Motivate yourself every day.

If you can eliminate the low value activities and the negative things you do then you will free yourself to succeed. Stop doing the things that you know are wasting your time and start building your success.

The talented acrobat says her real dream now would be to perform on a show like Dancing With The Stars

Jen who now lives in Studio City, California, says she was always taught to believe she could do anything, and she grew up to excel in a range of sports, including basketball, softball and volleyball.

But the young Jen's greatest love was always gymnastics, and it wasn't long before she was competing in - and winning - competitions at state level.

Growing up, the young gymnast idolised American Olympic gymnast Dominique Moceanu - and her story took another unbelievable twist when it turned out Moceanu was in fact her long-lost sister.

Jen said: 'Some of my earliest memories are of watching gymnastics on TV when I was six years old and trying to imitate the moves.

'Dominique was my favourite gymnast. I wouldn't shut up about her - even at the age of six I fantasised about being related to her.

'When I was 16 I discovered Dominique was actually my sister and I remember thinking these kind of things happen in the movies, this is not real life.'

During the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, USA, Jen was transfixed as Dominique became an overnight sensation.

She said: 'All I knew of my heritage was that I was Romanian and Dominique was also Romanian. We have the same features and spunky personalities. I was just drawn to her.'

Inspired, entered gymnastics and tumbling competitions and found she had a natural ability.

She competed in the Junior Olympics and even won a State Championship in tumbling competing against able-bodied people.

However, in her teens she began to wonder about her birth family and right before her sixteenth birthday she asked Sharon for more information.

Jen said: 'I wasn't expecting her to say yes because we've always been very open in our family but to my surprise she pulled out a folder of papers.

'She handed a document and said, 'You're never going to believe this, but your biological last name is Moceanu.'

'As soon as the words left her lips, I knew what it meant; my childhood idol was my sister.'

It was four years before Jen wrote to Dominique to introduce herself and see whether her biological family knew of her existence.

Jen said: 'Just before Christmas, 2007, when I was 21, I opened up a letter and I saw a card fall out and it was from Dominique.

'I saw her signature and it was just the most amazing feeling. Half way through the letter she said I was about to be an auntie, so I knew that they had accepted me immediately.

'Four months later I met Dominique and my younger sister, Christina.
