പ്രഥമ സുകുമാര്‍ അഴീക്കോട് പുരസ്കാരത്തിന്് പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍ ടി ജെ എസ് ജോര്‍ജ് അര്‍ഹനായി. ലക്ഷം രൂപയും ഫലകവും പ്രശസ്തിപത്രവുമാണ് അവാര്‍ഡ്. വിവിധ രംഗങ്ങളില്‍ സാമൂഹിക പ്രതിബദ്ധതയോടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നവരെ ആദരിക്കാനാണ് അവാര്‍ഡ് ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയതെന്ന്് സുകുമാര്‍ അഴീക്കോട് ട്രസ്റ്റ് ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ ജസ്റ്റിസ് കെ ടി തോമസ് പറഞ്ഞു.

 

 

 

അഴീക്കോട് ജയന്തിദിനമായ മെയ്് 12ന് അഞ്ചിന് കോട്ടയം ഡിസി ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തില്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഉമ്മന്‍ചാണ്ടി അവാര്‍ഡ് സമ്മാനിക്കും. പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തനരംഗത്ത് അരനൂറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെയായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന തയ്യില്‍ ജേക്കബ് സോണി ജോര്‍ജ് എന്ന ടി ജെ എസ് ജോര്‍ജ് 2011ല്‍ പത്മഭൂഷണ്‍ പുരസ്കാരത്തിന് അര്‍ഹനായി. കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം, ബഷീര്‍ പുരസ്കാരം, പത്രിക അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം, സി എച്ച് മുഹമ്മദ്കോയ പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തക പുരസ്കാരം, രാജ്യോത്സവ പുരസ്കാരം എന്നിവയ്ക്കും അര്‍ഹനായിട്ടുണ്ട്.

 

 

TJS George is the author of the Biography [Malayalam] of V.K. Krishna Menon, written in the 1960s, which gives us an inside view of the events leading to the China war of 1962 -- a "must read" for all patriotic Indians.
