THE TWO DIVINE CHILDREN

You learnt in the previous story, how happy every one was in Gokulam because of the presence of the beautiful Krishna born as the second son of Nandagopan. The entire village was in continuous ecstatic mood and everyday was a day of feast for all. What was special about the baby was that he had a magnetic smile ever on his face and there was no gopi in the village who has not borne him handful and hugged and kissed him. He was everybody's pet child. He had a brother elder to him by a few years, named Balarama (Balam means strength in tamil) Rama the elder child was known very well by the name "Bala" Rama. His joy was boundless as he now has a younger brother to play and self appointed himself as the baby's bodyguard. Balarama was Rohini's son born to Nandagopan. All lived in the same palace very happily and Rohini and Yasodha were inseparable and loved each other.

As for Yasodha she was feeling like being in heaven with the birth of Krishna in the family. On the 11th day of his birth the baby was named Krishnan as you read in the previous story.

The village Gokulam was under the control of the demonic king Kamsan who was looking for the 8th child of Devaki to find and kill him, because Kamsan was destined to die in the hands of that child!! All the local village chieftains were to pay periodically the dues to the ruling king Kamsa. When Nandagopan went to Mathura to pay the dues for his village Gokulam, he happened to meet Vasudeva and Devaki who are related to him and they secretly asked him how Nandagopan's child was progressing. He boasted of the beauty of Krishna and explained them about his magnetic charm and how the entire village was fond of him. Vasudeva was worried as Kamsan has ordered all new born children to be killed and therefore expressed his fear to Nandagopan about the safety of Krishna and requested him to be extra careful in bringing him up.

The fear of Vasudeva was not baseless and Kamsa already dispatched a demoness Boothanaa to some villages with the mission of finding and killing new born children.

This demoness had the power of changing her appearance and was able to take any form of her liking. Like her many demons and rakshasas and killers were dispatched to nook and corner of the kingdom to locate the children born in the month of Shravan that year.

Kamsan was so frantic that he wanted to ensure all the children are murdered so that there was none left to grow and prove a menace to him resulting in his death.

Boothanaa planned to visit many villages and fulfil her mission. Unfortunately for her she decided to first call at Gokulam and learnt of the birth of Krishna in the house of Nandagopan and visited their palace. Before she entered the palace of Nandagopan she planned to take the form of one of the local Gopis, a young mother. Her idea was to breastfeed Krishna, after applying deadly poison on her nipples so that when Krishna sucks her for milk, the poison would be mixed with the milk and kill him instantaneously.

To know what happened to Krishna the baby why don't you please wait until the next story reaches with the detail??
