A delicious salad with an amusing name and Soviet meat dainty. Actually this beloved specialty is called Herring under fur coat, yet everybody call it just fur coat in Russia. Follow the recipe of the adored participant of Russian parties. Ingredients: salt herring, beet, carrot, onions, potatoes, an egg, mayonnaise. Tools: grater, spoon, fork, napkin, plate. Cook carrot, beet and potatoes in a steam cooker. Grate all the products except herring. Peel the fish and cut into small pieces. The first layer are potatoes: grate them onto the very plate. Put a layer of mayo on the potatoes. Then a layer of herring and one of grated onions. Spread everything with one more layer of mayonnaise. Sprinkle thickly with grated carrot. Add a layer of eggs (yolk and white grated together) and again this salads favorite mayo. Add a decent amount of beet on top. And the final layer of mayonnaise. Put it into the fridge to rest for about an hour or better a little more, as the ingredients have to get soaked with each other. You know well for yourselves what to do with this fur coat later on. Bon appetit! The next specialty goes back to the Soviet times. These are rissoles which used to be one of the most expensive kinds of cutlet. Let us have a look at the way the dish used to be cooked back then. Ingredients: beef, pork fat, grounded black pepper, milk or water, salt. Mix the components and form round rissoles. Melt the fat and start to fry the meat. Keep the fire middle. It is not recomended to cover with lid. The juice that oozed out while cooking is used for the side dish dressing. Usually one used to eat fried or mashed potatoes as garnish.
