I agree with the observations in this mail. The politicization of the tragedy by political parties to earn 'brownie points' is so sad. I am reminded of a similar state of affairs when Kargil war was going on where the blame game kept going on back and forth while the Army rose to the occasion and evicted the intruders .
By the way Mr Antony had very little to do in the Army providing assistance in this disaster. It is a standard procedure for the civil administration to requisition the Army in case of natural calamities and the Army has standard operating procedures that are adopted immediately after the request is received. There are even Areas of Responsibilities (AOR) earmarked and battalions assigned to these areas for providing relief in case of disasters. Antony or no Antony, the Army belongs to the nation and is expected to do its best to provide relief to suffering countrymen.
