Before I started this wedding blog, I never noticed how difficult it is to pull off a beach wedding. We get tons of beach submissions, but we don't often feature them because the sand and often overcast skies. They wash everything out But today's Imperial Sand Dunes bridal session offers a solution. If you want a standout beach wedding, choose a colored wedding gown!
Even though this shoot isn't technically a beach, the sand offers a similar look. Yep, notice how this blush wedding dress stands out against the beige sand. The white dress does well too. But try to avoid wearing any creams or beiges, and that includes your bridal party as well. Using color is the way to go when sand is your backdrop.
Located in the southeast corner of California, the Imperial Sand Dunes are the largest mass of sand dunes in the state. Situated east of the Imperial Valley agricultural region, the dunes are bordered to the west by the Coachella Canal, a waterway diverting Colorado River water to fertile agricultural lands further north.
Formed by windblown sands of ancient Lake Cahuilla, the dune system extends for more than 40 miles in a band averaging 5 miles wide. Widely known as "Glamis" and a favorite location for off-road enthusiasts, the dunes also offer fabulous scenery, opportunities for solitude, and a home to rare plants and animals.
Plus, these dunes serve as an incredible place for a bridal shoot like KSL Wedding put together here!
