If you can strike off points from the list, you will make a great team leader!
1. You believe in 'We' before 'I'
When you think about your team before yourself unselfishly, it means you're truly ready for it. Very few TLs put their teams before their motives.
2. Your team members look up to you
It's completely necessary that each and everyone in your team respects you and finds you approachable. One bad apple can instigate people to hate you, and so, you ought to win the respect of each and every member on your team.
3. You aren't jealous when you see your team members succeeding at their tasks
Jealousy is not your first emotion when you see a person on your team growing. In fact, you would do anything it takes to support them.
4. You like being the connect between the employees and the management
You're diplomatic and that makes you a great liaison between the management and the people working.
5. People getting excited about work excites you
You hate it when people are not happy about their work. You, therefore, talk them into liking what they want to do.
6. You're not power hungry
Some people want to be a manager because they like to 'rule' over others. Such team leaders are often hated the most. You want to be a manager so that you can 'manage' a team, and not 'rule' over them.
7. You don't poke your nose into your teammates' personal lives
You don't mix professional and personal life together. You understand that your teammates have a personal life and therefore don't discuss work after work hours.
8. You consider water-cooler meetings cool
You don't make a face if your teammates gather around the water cooler to chitchat or visit the canteen to sip chai. In fact, you love it when your team bonds.
9. People generally ask for your advice
Apart from work, people also ask for your advice regarding their personal lives. When people open up to you regarding their personal life, it's a sign that they trust you.
10. Apart from work, you're also psyched about fun outings with your team
You know very well that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Therefore, you love organising and suggesting off-sites and team picnics.
11. You're good at remembering things
It's essential that you don't forget things or else you won't make a good TL. Little things like remembering your teammates' birthdays to what he is working on will take you a step closer to being a great TL.
