A tongue in cheek finding…

Be dishonest for 'cheater's high'..

People may actually experience a 'cheater's high' after doing something unethical that doesn't directly harm someone else: study.  Although people predict they will feel bad after cheating, many of them don't.  In fact, those who get away with cheating when they believe no one is hurt by their dishonesty are more likely to feel upbeat than remorseful.

(Me: Honestly speaking… many – privately of course – boast of their devious methods..)

Sickening, shameful news…

(1) Let bygones be bygones, PM tells BJP

Invokes Syria Crisis to end bad blood with Oppn.

The stage for a breakthrough – or détente between the warring two main political parties – was set at the PM's meeting with BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and L.K. Advani during which Singh outlined the potential dire fallout of an attack on Syria on global oil prices.

(Comments:  (1) What kind of democracy is ours where the PM of a country has to go practically on-all-fours and beg a opposition leaders to 'co-operate" in getting key issues legislated?  (2) It means all the ruckus, pandemoniums and disruptions leading to business being done in the august body is all to settle scores among one another parties, score brownie points or gain political mileage and not because of any serious disagreements or misgivings among the parties over an important bill being taken up for deliberation,  (3) there is no need for such deliberations at all if the parties can amicably settle things beforehand in a meeting of a few leaders and (4) only when there is a national calamity, the political leaders will do something..

2) Govt unclogs Rs.1.4-lakh crore investments.

Removes fuel supply, green hurdles for 34 infra projects.

(Comments: If the government could do it at breakneck speed now – after so much damage – nothing short of a disaster - has been done to the country's economy and the rupee – why not earlier and created a more congenial and business-friendly atmosphere in the country?  It's like bolting the stable after the horse has fled.  We – the discerning people, that is – know most of us are work-shirkers and unconscionably procrastinating taking decisions – until and unless the price we have to pay is very heavy - runs in our veins.  But, one doesn't expect the council of our ministers, the highest governing body in the country, to work in such a lackadaisical and cavalier fashion.  As we have seen, every union minister considers his/her portfolios as an island in itself and doesn't appreciate a fellow-minister's views or problems whenever his ministry has to take a decision; although essentially the council is a team and has to function cohesively and harmoniously as an integral whole. The ex-Environment Minister – who is an IITian to boot and a shame on the entire alumni  – did the maximum damage throwing in a spanner in the work of every major project during his tenure – thank God, he was booted out sooner than later.

Every political leader who is someone is slapping their own back at the passage of the Land Acquision Bill – but the hard-nosed businessmen aren't babes in the woods and wouldn't even take a second look at it, let alone invest their good money in business propositions in India, because the asking price for land in rural areas is fixed at four times the market price.

From the world of science…

Researchers at George Washington University have learned that those pre-diabetic patients who walked for 15 minutes after each meal showed much lower blood sugar readings than those who exercised for one long stretch each day.

Woman busted for breastfeeding on moped..

Beijing: A woman in China has been busted breastfeeding her baby as she rode a moped through busy roads.  The 18-year-old boy was reportedly clinging on with his hands and lips as his mother weaved her way through busy traffic in Yuzhou.  The child was crying, and the other responded by taking one hand off the bike to get ready to breastfeed.  So she suddenly lifted up her T-shirt, whipped out her breast and started to feed him on the move.

Hear a gem from Kautilya....

The KING may enjoy in an equal degree the three pursuits of life, CHARITY, DESIRE, and WEALTH, which are inter-dependent upon each other. Any one of these three, when enjoyed in excess, HURTS NOT ONLY THE OTHER TWO, BUT ALSO ITSELF.

Kautilya holds that WEALTH and WEALTH alone is IMPORTANT, in as much as CHARITY and DESIRE depend upon WEALTH for their realisation.

So the FOOD SECURITY BILL, which is based on CHARITY, will hurt not only DESIRE & WEALTH of the NATION but also the scheme itself.

(Me: Two more sayings come to mind: Charity begins at home; Self before charity)
