From the world of science…

Scientists develop invisibility cloak!

Washington: Scientists have inched closer to developing a "Harry Potter' style invisibility cloak after devising a revolutionary new method to make objects disappear within a limited range of light waves.  Researchers at the University of Texas developed a thin material called a 'mantle cloak' which makes an object 'invisible' after being wrapped in it.  However, the effect only applies to a limited range of light waves – specifically microwaves.  Scientists covered a cylinder with the material.  Microwave detectors could no longer plainly 'see' it.

News of the day…

Women make better business choices than men…

New York: Women's abilities to take fair decisions make them better corporate leaders than men, says a new study.  The study found that women are more likely to consider the rights of others and to take a co-operative approach to decision-making, which ultimately results in better performance for their companies.

(Me: Most men know  in their heart of hearts their wives are truly BETTER HALVES!)

Woman to husband: "Of course I love you.  Out of all the men in the world, I chose YOU to be unhappy with."

Fact of the matter..

Early Egyptians believed that the heart and other major organs had wills of their own and would move around inside the body.  (Me: Left to ourselves, Indians  with their penchant for being anti-science, would have loved to continue to believe so…)

A kitchen faucet would need to be turned on all the way for at least 45 years to equal the amount of blood pumped by the heart in an average lifetime. The heart pumps blood to almost all the body's 75 trillion cells!..

Tongue very much in cheek…

"The less people you chill with,
the less problems you deal with!"

Three weeks after Myra's late husband's cremation Doris went to visit her sister Myra.  While they were having a cup of tea by the coal fire; Doris asked her sister, "Why do you keep on turning that hourglass?"

Myra retorted, "Bill's ashes are inside the hourglass.  I keep on turning it because the lazy oaf wouldn't work while he was live, so I'm making him work now!"

News from abroad…

US gunman may plead guilty to escape death.

Los Angeles: James Holmes, the suspected gunman in the horrific Aurora theatre massacre, could plead guilty in exchange for escaping the death penalty, lawyers said ahead of a crucial hearing next week.

(Comment:  This flies in the face of the so-called liberals who ceaselessly argue that capital sentence doesn't act as a deterrent to potential criminals.  Human beings ARE mortally scared of having to hang from the noose for macabre, wanton crimes)

Tweet of the day: 15 Kingfisher planes seized.  The only way now the airline can fly is if Mallya straps a pair of wings on Sid Mallya and calls him a plane.

"Doc!" the man yells.  I've lost my memory!"

"Calm down, sir.  When did this happen?"

The looked at him, "When did what happen?"
