[www.keralites.net] Khatte-mitten khabhrain from around the world for 10/3/13

Boy: What've you got in your truck?

Farmer: Fertilizer.

Boy: What are you going to do with it?

Farmer: Put it on strawberries.

Boy: You ought to live here.  We put sugar and cream on ours.

One woman to another: "I almost left him for a younger man so he could run off with the cute little office assistant.  But we decided to sit home and watch TV instead".

Health tips

If you're prone to acne, include sweet potatoes, spinach, and carrots in your diet.

Avoid coffee and colas during summer.  They increase urine output and dehydrate you faster.

Weird world..

Man tries to rob a bank, teller asks him to wait..
Police in a Detroit suburb said they were searching for a man who attempted to rob a bank but was told by a teller that he would have to wait as she was waiting on drive-through customers.

8-year-old boy weds woman aged 61:

A boy aged eight tied the knot with a 61-year-old woman in Tshwane, South Africa.  Schoolboy Sanele Masilele and mum-of-five Helen Shabangu got married to please the boy's dead ancestors.

(Me: If mantras and obsequies rituals can please our dead dear ones – the pitrus – as we do believe in India, why not the marriage?)

Stirring story...

Dying woman writes book with her thumb...

Former reporter Susan Spencer-Wendell, who is suffering a fatal neurological disease, types 89,000-word book using the only part of her body, below the neck, that she can still move.  Booksellers around the world are preparing to stock the story of a Florida woman who is dying of a neurological disease that has left her immobile.

Carton quip, in MM, on yet another fire at Mantralaya, the seat of power in Maharashtra State.

Blurb: Another Fire?  Why don't they get a paper shredder instead?

Tongue very much in cheek…

"I feel less keen about the Army every day.  I think the Church would suit me better" – Winston Churchill

(Me: Faith in the Power of Prayer over your heavy artillery fire power..??!!!)

A kindergarten teacher was walking around the classroom observing the students while they were drawing.  Stopping at the desk of one little girl was working hard on her drawing, the teacher asked what she was drawing.  The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."

The girl replied, "They will in a minute."

Latest on rapist, Bitti Mohanty, who jumped parole and lived incognito for 6 long years, and who has now been arrested in Kerala...  (News source: Mumbai Mirror and ToI 10/3/13)

His father, Bidya Bhushan Mohanty, a former Odisha DG of police: "I'm not sure if the man arrested from Kerala is actually my son.  I have seen the picture of the arrested youth, but he has no resemblance with my son".

(Speaks volume of police top dog he was…  How can an ex-DIG of police ever even imagine that a convict who has jumped his parole and living under a false identity would retain his original looks?)

His family members and several Odissa cops believe that the case had several holes and suspect that he was convicted on account of pressure from the medium.

(Certainly this doesn't redound to the credit of the police force as they, themselves very much part of the law-enforcement and justice-delivery system, do not have much faith in the existing system)
