British Wildlife Photography Awards 2012
The winners of the 2012 British Wildlife Photography Awards have been revealed yesterday.
The annual awards seek to recognise the talents of wildlife photographers working in Britain,
while highlighting the great wealth and diversity of Britains natural history.
1. Overall winner was this stunning image taken by Dr Matt Doggett called 'Gannet Jacuzzi'.
He took the shot at a remote location off the north coast of Scotland
2. Hidden Britain Category Winner: 'Leap For Freedom', by Dale Sutton, taken in Battle, East Sussex
3. British Seasons Category Winner: 'Winter Hare', by Jules Cox, taken in Cairngorms National Park, Scotland
4. Wildlife In My Backyard Category Winner: 'Wasp House Cleaning From a Nest' by David Thomas Handley,
taken in Tan-y-fron, near Wrexham, North Wales
5. Animal Behaviour Category Winner: 'Herring Gull Plucking Puffin From The Ground',
by Amanda Hayes, taken in Inner Farne, Northumberland
6. Habitat Category Winner: 'Grey Seal In Underwater Cave', by Alexander Mustard, taken near Lundy Island, Devon
7. Living Landscape Category Winner: 'Culm Divided', by Stephen William Powles, taken in Knowstone Moor, Devon
8. 12 to 18 Years Category Winner: 'Arctic Terns On The Ferne Island', by Ashley Butterworth (aged 14), taken in Northumberland
9. Under 12 Category Winner: 'Male Chaffinch Coming In To Land', by William Briggs (aged 8), taken in Kent
10. Urban Wildlife Category Winner: 'Starlings Watching The Starlings' by Phil Jones, taken in Aberystwyth, Wales
11. Portrait Category Winner: 'Red Deer Stag In Pine Forest', by Neil McIntyre, taken in Carngorms National Park, Scotland
12. Wild Woods Category Winner: 'New Forest In Autumn', by Jeremy Walker, taken in the New Forest, Hampshire
13. Highly Commended in Hidden Britain Category: 'Deer Fly Reflection' by Les Gibbon, taken in Arglam Farm, East Yorks
14. Highly Commended In Portrait Category: 'Over The Shoulder Seal', by John Moncrieff, taken in Troswick, Shetland Islands
