ലണ്ടന്‍ : 17 ദിവസം നീണ്ട കായികമാമാങ്കത്തിന് പരിസമാപ്തിയായി. മൈക്കല്‍ ഫെല്‍പ്‌സിന്റെയും ഉസൈന്‍ ബോള്‍ട്ടിന്റെയും ഇതിഹാസ വാഴ്ചയ്ക്കും ചൈനയെ പിന്തള്ളി അമേരിക്കയുടെ മുന്നേറ്റത്തിനും സാക്ഷിയായ ലണ്ടന്‍ ഒളിമ്പിക്‌സിന് കൊടിയിറങ്ങി. നാല് വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം പുതിയ ചരിത്രവും റെക്കോഡുകളും കുറിക്കാനായി റിയോഡി ജനൈറോയില്‍ കാണാം എന്ന വാഗ്ദാനത്തോടെ ഏവരും ഒളിമ്പിക് മൈതാനത്തോട് ഗുഡ്‌ബൈ പറഞ്ഞു.
ഉദ്ഘാടന ചടങ്ങ് പോലെ നിറപ്പകിട്ടാര്‍ന്ന ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ സമാപനവേദിയിലും കാഴ്ചയുടെ വിരുന്നായി. രാത്രി ഒന്നരയ്ക്ക് ആരംഭിച്ച
സമാപനച്ചടങ്ങുകളില്‍, റിയോയുടെ വരവറിയിച്ച് ബ്രസീലില്‍നിന്നുള്ള കലാകാരന്മാര്‍ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പരിപാടികളും അരങ്ങേറി ലണ്ടനിലെ നാഴികക്കല്ലുകളായ ടവര്‍ ബ്രിഡ്ജ്, ബിഗ് ബെന്‍ ക്ലോക്ക് തുടങ്ങിയവയുടെ മാതൃകയും സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിലെത്തി. സമാപന മാമാങ്കത്തിന് എരിവു പകര്‍ന്നുകൊണ്ട് സ്‌പൈസ് ഗേള്‍സ് പാട്ടുപാടി സമാപനവേദിയെ വലം വെച്ചു. പങ്കെടുത്ത 204 രാജ്യങ്ങളെയും പ്രതിനിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദീപം അണഞ്ഞതോടെ ഒളിമ്പിക്‌സിന് ഔദ്യോഗിക സമാപനമായി.
ബെയ്ജിങ്ങില്‍ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട ഒളിമ്പിക് മേധാവിത്വം അമേരിക്ക തിരിച്ചുപിടിക്കുന്നതാണ് ലണ്ടന്‍ ഒളിമ്പിക്‌സിന്റെ ബാക്കിപത്രം. 46 സ്വര്‍ണമുള്‍പ്പെടെ 104 മെഡലുമായാണ് അമേരിക്ക മടങ്ങുന്നത്. ബെയ്ജിങ്ങില്‍ അമേരിക്കയെ പിന്തള്ളി ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനം തട്ടിയെടുത്ത ആതിഥേയരായ ചൈനയ്ക്ക് ഇവിടെ 38 സ്വര്‍ണമുള്‍പ്പെടെ 87 മെഡലുമായി രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനത്ത് ഒതുങ്ങേണ്ടിവന്നു. ബുദ്ധിപൂര്‍വമായ നീക്കങ്ങളും വനിതാ ടീമുകളുടെ കരുത്തുമാണ് അമേരിക്കയുടെ തിരിച്ചുവരവിന് വഴിയൊരുക്കിയത്. ഗുസ്തിയില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സുശീല്‍ കുമാര്‍ വെള്ളി നേടിയത് സമാപനദിനം ഇന്ത്യക്കും അഭിമാനിക്കാന്‍ വക നല്‍കി.
