Indoor Herb Gardens Pros and Cons
Indoor herb gardens are a great way to have fresh herbs available when you cook; however, there are things to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to keep one. Being aware of the pros and cons of growing an indoor herb garden are essential to know what to expect from your herb garden.
The biggest pro of growing an indoor herb garden is having a variety of fresh herbs that make any dish taste better. They are convenient, easy to care for, and the plants usually thrive because the indoor climate is controlled. Indoor herb gardens grow throughout the year so that you don't have to rely on good weather to have fresh herbs. Indoor herb gardens are perfect for people who don't have the space for a large garden or for first time growers.
The cons of indoor herb gardens are that they sometimes attract gnats and bugs into your home, some plant scents can be overpowering, pets or children may get into it or knock it over, and it does require some care and maintenance. While these cons may seem minimal compared to having fresh herbs in the house, they definitely need to be taken into consideration. It does take some time and work to grow and maintain any kind of garden and if you don't have the time, then an herb garden is not for you.
An indoor herb garden is a wonderful addition to any home as long as you are aware of the pros and cons. If you can overlook the cons, then the benefit will be fresh, aromatic herbs in your recipes.
