With blue thistle, greenery, and succulents alongside romantic roses and dusty miller, a whimsical texture was a big part of Maddy's bouquet. Her maid of honor, a graphic design major, designed the invitation suite and programs and lettered all of the signage for the event. Groom Will asked his bride Maddy to marry him in front of the giraffe exhibit at the zoo (Maddy's favorite animal), so the open-air pavilion at the zoo seemed like the perfect place for their wedding reception. They decorated with bunches of flowers, but also little animal touches like the cake topper and the elephant and giraffe on the head table. Maddy and Will let their fun and quirky personalities shine through with polka dot ties for the men and a unique lace back on Maddy's gown. Will wore a custom navy suit for the big day, a graduation and wedding gift from his parents. Taste, the restaurant where Maddy works, catered the event with delicious comfort foods. And two hundred succulents were ordered and decorated to give the guests as favors. With Caitlin Gerres Photography capturing every moment, a lovely wedding it was indeed! When they first met, Will immediately found himself drawn to Maddy because of her easy-going manner, her genuine interest in others, and the way she carried herself. But something about a relationship with Will intimidated Maddy. As their group of friends got closer and they spent more time together, Maddy avoided one-on-one time with Will. But he wasn't going to give up easily. He knew what he saw for them and was willing to wait until she saw it too. Then one day a full two years later, Maddy asked if she could drop by his house to talk. She wanted to mend their friendship. Will saw the opportunity, and he insisted on buying her dinner. And at the end of the night, Will laid it all on the table. He couldn't just be her friend. He wanted a relationship, or he would have to walk away and break ties with her completely. It was all or nothing. In or out. No more avoiding, no more excuses. And finally, the timing was right. Maddy was done running.
