Hindu festival of Chhath Puja 
The Chhath Puja is an ancient and unique Hindu festival dedicated to the god Sun. It is performed in order to thank Surya (ancient Vedic goddess Usha) to sustain life on earth and to request the granting certain wishes.

The rituals of the festival are rigorous and are observed over a four days. They include holy bathing, fasting and abstinence from drinking water (Vratta) standing in water for long periods of time as you pray and offer different gifts.
