Kerala shouldK do a rethinking to see why there is so much difference in the number of tourists visitng Tamil Nadu and Kerala, inspite of the favourable climate and backwaters etc Kerala have. I feel the frequent hartals are responsible for it. Hope the political parties will realise that they are destroying toursim in the state with their hartals as they have destroyed industries with trade unions.

In 2014, foreign tourists chose Tamil Nadu over Maharashtra as per country-wide data released this month by the Union Tourism Ministry. Tamil Nadu, occupied top position while Maharashtra now ranks second. Delhi, which is also an important tourist destination on the domestic circuit, slipped to the fourth spot, behind Uttar Pradesh. Tamil Nadu drew 4.66 million foreign tourists while Maharashtra saw 4.39 million visitors. Tamil Nadu registered an approximate increase of 17% in its foreign tourist visits in 2014 as against 2013. Maharashtra, meanwhile, registered a 6% increase in its foreign tourist visits in 2014 in comparison to the previous year.
