The worst flooding in the Balkans for decades has forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes

Rapidly rising rivers surged into homes, sending people climbing to upper floors to await rescue

Thousands of residents in Obrenovac in Serbia left their homes after much of the town was inundated

Officials say they still do not know the full impact of the disaster as relief efforts continue

Many families have taken temporary shelter in a sports hall in Belgrade

Officials say waters have receded in certain parts of Serbia, but many communities are still without electricity or drinking water

Authorities fear the floods will have a devastating impact on farming, which is vital to both the Serbian and Bosnian economies
