Why Lord Shiva puts ash on his body? by mho
As per Dharma Granthas, Lord Shiva is unique and the one that cant be destroyed. Lord Shiva is very simple, but at the same time he is also
very mysterious.
His way of living, eating and dressing is very different from other gods.
In Hindu shastras, where every god is shown wearing clothes, lord Shiva is shown wearing leopard prints and ash.
Ash is the primary wear of lord Shiva as his body is entirely covered with it. Ash is also a part of clothing of saints. Aghoris, sadhus and sanyasis put ashes on their bodies.
There are some scientific as well as spiritual reasons that support wearing ash on body.
Ash when applied on body closes all pores of the skin. Also after applying it on body, one does not feel hot in summers and Cold in winters.
Ash also cures skin infections. Lord Shiva wearing ash symbolizes that human should learn to change himself as the time changes.
