[www.keralites.net] List of Run Commands in Windows 7 (Complete List of Run Commands in Windows 7)

A Windows 7 run command is, very simply, the executable for a particular program. In other words, a run command is the name of the actual file that starts an application.

Knowing the run command for a particular program in Windows 7 can be helpful if Windows isn't working properly but you do have access to a command line interface or if you'd just like to access a particular program more quickly.

Don't See a Run Command? Many lists of run commands for Windows 7 that I've seen are incorrect, listing Command Prompt commands or Control Panel "commands" as run commands. See my List of Command Prompt Commands in Windows 7 and my List of Control Panel Command Line Commands for more information.

On the other hand, if you're sure I've missed a run command in Windows 7, please let me know and I'll get it added.

[1] This run command can not be executed from the Command Prompt because the file is not in the default Windows path. However, it can be run from the Windows Search box or the Run box.

[2] This CPL file can be executed as a run command to open this Control Panel applet but please know that there is a new standard (that began with Windows Vista) to open Control Panel applets. This is why there aren't nearly as many CPL files as there are Control Panel applets even though they are all executable from via a command. See Command Line Commands for Control Panel Applets for the complete list.

[3] The dvdplay run command opens Windows Media Player and automatically starts to play the DVD movie in the primary DVD drive.

[4] You must follow the fontview run command with the name of the font that you wish to see.

[5] When you execute the regedt32 run command, it simply forwards to regedit and executes that program instead. Two distinct versions of Registry Editor did exist in some earlier versions of Windows.
