DAY 23 of the Christmas countdown.
In 1984, Bob Geldorf and Midge Ure gathered together a group of recording artists
to record "Do They Know its Christmas". The idea was to put out a record to raise
money to help people suffering through a famine in Ethiopia.
The recording was a a world wide success and several new versions have been
recorded over the years to continue the relief work.
Christmas is about giving and there are few Christmas songs that appeal to the
act of giving better than "Do They Know its Christmas". It is the very essence
of the Christmas spirit.
