Dear Rajan Mathew,
If we construct a new dam at the lower level  then a single drop of water will not go to TN.  Instead of  spending more money for constructing new dam,  we can strengthen the existing dam. 

All over the world  there are several dams  still existing, which are constructed several years before when compare to MP.  If we strengthen the dam it will survey for several year.  then there will not be any problem to kerala and tamil nadu. 

Instead of this if you stop giving water and TN stop giving  food items,  whether it will be nice to our culture. What other countries will think about us. It will be a shame for us. With in a country when we are not able to co-operate,  then how we will maintain friendly relationship with Pakistan, China etc.

What do you think of making a 999 year agreement for a 50 year life Dam, written110 years back (long before Independence)? Isn't there something like insultingthe intelligence? Insulting the patience? Are you sure we have to obey it now?In a life and death situation what the poor people below MP dam will do? Can youguess?

Your Statement is wrong.  The Riveroriginate at Tamil Nadu and flow through Kerala and drains inArabian sea.  Why you people not having the mentality we are Indian. Whether  Kerala is in America and Tamil Nadu is in Britain.  Thinkpositively.  It is both the state issue.  If the dam collapse  thenit will be a serious issue to Kerala.  If  you stop giving water toTN,  then they will stop supplying essential thing to kerala. As long as you are at theother side of the dam, you can talk scientific fundas like Einstein orNewton. But people who live just below the dam and on the shores of riverPeriyar cannot talk such things at the moment. In 1979 itself this fear ofdam break started, but by god's grace we are still alive here. But it is nota good idea to test how long the almighty may help us.

Your agriculture land turns to be barren is nothing in comparison withhorrible death of people and geographical changes that follows the deaths.Whether it is 3.5 million or 3.5 lakh or 3.5 thousand, no government can letits people to die in vain.

Tamil Nadu'ssingle problem is that they fear a new contract on new dam, because no saneperson can engage in a contract for 999 years (1 year less than amillennium) without any revision of its clauses to accommodate changes ofthe ages. Keralam is ready to give the same amount water to Tamils. Thenwhat possible problem could there be for Tamils to disagree with the idea ofconstructing a new dam? After all, even if there is no threat, it is a goodidea to have a new dam to decommission a 116 years old dam which will ensurethe continuity of getting water from the same for another 100 or 200 yearsto come. But after a disaster, do you think you will be allowed to constructa new dam at the same site?

One of the dams is allowed on the water leak, which greatly helps toreduce pressure on the dam. Maximum permitted leakage of water in dams, 250liters per minute. General periyaru dam, 45 liters of water per minuteleakage occur. This is an area one-fifth of the permissible amount of waterleakage.

152 feet of water in the dam capacity tekkin General periyaru 10.5 tmc, 155feet of water tekkalam drawing. Government of Kerala, like me, Generalperiyaru if the dam breaks, the water along the dam fell into a deep valley,58 km, and the Government of Kerala, Idukki dam built in the fall.

Capacity of 70 tmc of Idukki dam, seven times bigger than Mullai periyarudam. If the water exiting the dam collapse disaster in the districts ofKerala is the imagination. Tamilakattukke impact ...
From 152 feet to 136 feet of the dam nirmattattai General periyaru reduced,since the year 1979, the losses suffered by City:

1. 38 thousand acres of land became barren.

2. Crop cultivation and became a go go two 26 thousand acres of land.

3. Lack of water flow from river water by harvesting, farming became alkulay53 thousand acres of land.

4. Agricultural production loss of 500 billion rupees a year.

5. Fifteen year 3, 531 crore loss in power.

However, public sector, retired Chief Engineer of Tamil Nadu, Veerappansaid:

"The full capacity is 10.5 tmc General periyaru Dam, when water, if fragilestate, across the water, along the dam is the most profound fall in theditch. Plain that there is not any.
Residential areas above the dam is periyaru General of Kerala. Actually, theheight of the dam 2.864 feet above sea level. Kumuli of Kerala (3,100), carperiyaru (2,743), pampanar (4,402), elapparai (3,648), vallaram kunnu(3,422), pulmetu (3,583), etc. in the area are taller than General periyarudam. Therefore, the General periyaru water of the dam, these entangleinvalid.
The effluent water from a broken dam, 50 km, distance, Idukki dam in Keralawill go up. This is 7 times higher than General periyaru dam.

Actually, 70.5 tmc, the water capacitor is placed. Therefore, Government ofKerala, like me, General periyaru by breaking the dam will not affect anypart of Kerala, "he said..

I think it is time Tamil Nadu govmt stoped cheating their own people bytelling them the truth about consequences theif the dam is deatroyed. keralaand tamil Nadu has a long root of friend ship and this should not be spoiledby their politricks. Kerala govmt has to look after the safety of theirpeople and at the same time ,keep the harmony and friend ship between thetwo states.
Both states has to sit together and decide the feature of the People andtheir needs, water for the tamil nadu and saftey for the keralites
At the same time both keralaand Tamilpublic shoul keep in mind, not to fallfor the tricks played by some of the politicians and the enemy of the twostates.

We have an expert in dam safety here... who saysthe 116 years old dam is safe.. then why the experts from IIT Roorki iscoming here to check the effects of earth quake on the dam? why the Damsafey authority is advised to provide a report on the condition of dam bysupreme court? Why similar dams of less age are being decommissioned?
Sushama Roy seems to be one not living in Kerala, and also not in TN,whereevery body know clearly that nobody is against people coming tosabarimala. The issue of MP dam is there for a long time so it is not alelection issue, also it is supported by all beyond political boundries...

ഞാന്‍ ഗൂഗിള്‍ എര്‍ത്ത് വഴി ഒരു ചെറിയ സര്‍വേ നടത്തി... മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍പൊട്ടിയാല്‍ ആ വെള്ളം വന്നു ചേരുന്നത് ഇടുക്കി റിസരവോയരിലാണ്.. ആസംബരണിയുടെ രണ്ടു മുഗങ്ങളായ.. ഇടുക്കി ഡാമും ചെറുതോണി ഡാമും പൊട്ടിയാല്‍ വെള്ളംവരുന്നത് ഒരേ വഴിക്കാണ്.. ചെറുതോണി പൊട്ടിയാലും ഇടുക്കി പൊട്ടിയാലും ഒരേ വെള്ളമാണ് വരുക... മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ പൊട്ടിയാല്‍ ഇതില്‍ ഏതെങ്കിലും പൊട്ടും എന്നത്നിശ്ചയമാണ്...ഡാം പൊട്ടിയാല്‍... നേര്യമംഗലം വരെ പുഴയിലൂടോലിച്ചു തന്നെ വരുംവെള്ളം ഇരു വശങ്ങളിലും മലകളാണ്.. ഇടുക്കി മുതല്‍ നേര്യമംഗലം വരെ പുഴക്കരയിലുള്ളജനങ്ങള്‍ തന്നെ വലിയൊരു സന്ഗ്യയുണ്ട്‌.. അവര്‍ പൂര്‍ണ മായും നാമാവശേഷമാകും ..ഇടുക്കിയില്‍ നിന്നും ആരംബിക്കുന്നപുഴ നേരായ നീരൊഴുക്ക് കടലില്‍ ചേരുന്നത്കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂര്‍ അടുത്ത് അഴീക്കോടും പിന്നെ മറ്റൊന്ന് വരാപ്പുഴ വഴി ഒഴുകി കൊച്ചികായലിലും ആണ്... ഇതിനാല്‍... കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂര്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്ന പ്രദേശം മുതല്‍എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയുടെ നിരവതി ഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ ചെങ്ങാലൂര്‍, കാലടി ,നെടുമ്പാശേരി, ചെങ്ങമനാട്, ആലുവ , പറവൂര്‍, ചെന്നമംഗലം, മൂത്തകുന്നം ,കോട്ടപ്പുറം, എടവനക്കാട് , വൈപ്പിന്‍, മാംബ്ര, മാന്നാനം, വെങ്ങോല , കാക്കനാട് ,കളമശേരി, ............... ഈ ലിസ്റ്റ് പൂര്‍ണമല്ലാ... നിരവതി പ്രദേശങ്ങളില്‍മുഴുവനാളുകളും വെള്ളത്തി നടിയിലാകും... ഇതെല്ലാം പ്രതേശങ്ങള്‍ പോകും എന്നതില്‍മേല്‍പ്പറഞ്ഞ സ്ഥലങ്ങള്‍ പൂര്‍ണമായും ഇരയാകും... ഇരുപതു ലക്ഷം എന്നതില്‍കുറയാത്ത ആള്നാശമുണ്ടാകും... ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ അടിയന്തിര മായി പുതിയ ഡാംനിര്‍മിക്കണം.. മണ്ണും സുര്‍ക്കിയും ചുണ്ണാമ്പും ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ്മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാരുണ്ടാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത് ശാസ്ത്രീയ പഠനത്തില്‍ അമ്പതു വര്‍ഷമാണ്‌ഇതിന്ടെ ഉറപ്പു ഇപ്പോള്‍ നൂറ്റി പതിനഞ്ചു വര്ഷം തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു... വളരെചെറിയ ഒരു ഭൂചലനമോ . ഒരു പക്ഷെ അങ്ങിനെ അല്ലാതെ തന്നെ വളരെ അടുത്ത സമയം ഈ ഡാംതകരാന്‍ ഇടയുണ്ട്... ഉടനെ മറ്റൊരു ഡാം പണി യെണ്ടാതാണ്... ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ഇനിയൊന്നുകൂടി ചിന്തിക്കാന്‍ ഇനി നമുക്ക് സമയം ലഭിക്കില്ലാ.. അല്ലെങ്ങില്‍ വളരെനിയന്ത്രണത്തോടെ ഈ ഡാമിലെ വെള്ളം ഒഴുക്കികലയെണ്ടാതാണ്... അല്ലെങ്ങില്‍..... ഐഹവ് നോ വേര്‍ഡ്സ്!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

കോട്ടയം നഗരസഭ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ സണ്ണി കല്ലൂരും മുന്‍ എം എല്‍എ വി എന്‍ വാസവനും മറ്റു പൌരപ്രമുഖരും ചേര്‍ന്ന് ഫ്ല്ഗ് ഓഫ് ചെയ്ത വിളംബര യാത്രവൈകിട്ട് ഏഴുമണിയോടെ വിവിധ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലെ സ്വീകരണങ്ങള്‍ ഏറ്റു വാങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടു
മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ സമര പന്തലില്‍ എത്തി. സമര സേനാനികള്‍ ജാഥയെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു.

മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ ഏകതാ പദയാത്ര ഡിസംബര്‍ 19 നു വൈകിട്ട് കോട്ടയത്ത് വച്ചു പ്രശസ്തപരിസ്ഥിതി പ്രവര്‍ത്തകയായ മേധാ പട്കര്‍
ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യും. ഡിസംബര്‍ 24 നുമുല്ലപ്പെരിയാറില്‍ എത്തുന്ന വിധത്തില്‍ ആണ് കാല്‍നടയായി 'ഏകതാ പദയാത്ര'
ക്രമീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. യാത്രയില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുവാന്‍ എല്ലാതമിഴ് മലയാളി സഹോദരങ്ങളെയും വിവിധ സാംസ്‌കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു. ഇരുസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും ജനങ്ങള്‍ ആണ് സഹിക്കേണ്ടത്
എന്നതിനാല്‍ പ്രശ്നത്തിനു അടിയന്തിര പരിഹാരം കാണേണ്ടത്കേരള തമിഴ് നാട് സര്‍ക്കാരുകളുടെ കടമയാണ് എന്ന് പൊതു പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ ആവര്‍ത്തിച്ചുഓര്‍മിപ്പിച്ചു.
