On the average kids get sick six to eight times each year with the common cold alone. And for some parents, natural alternative to prescription or over-the-counter medications are herbal remedies
Herbal medicines are effective in prevention of various childhood diseases and can be used to ward off infections when the school year starts, on airplanes or during the holidays.
Here, we present the best natural remedies to help ease your kid's symptoms. But remember that It's best to get the opinion of your child's pediatrician before using any alternative remedies. They can also have serious side effects like medicines.

1. Colds:

Umcka

Umcka is a South African herb and is found in natural cold remedies or with menthol to soothe sore throats. Symptoms can be reduced effectively with ginger root tea and echinacea also.. Put eucalyptus oil in hot water, place a towel over your child's head and let him or her breathe in.

2. Coughs:

Catnip

Elder flower, lemon balm, yarrow and catnip might be helpful in fever. However, always bring it into the knowledge of your doctor because if your child has a fever, especially an infant, it can signal something more serious.

Chamomile Tea
If your kid doesn't go to bed in time and has to go to school in the morning then try a cup of chamomile tea. It has been used to treat insomnia, sleep disorders and anxiety, so it can help to calm your child.Lemon balm and linden can also be helpful.

8. Stomach problems:

Peppermint Tea
Peppermint tea can be helpful if your child has a stomachache. But, if your child is having diarrhea or vomiting, it could be the stomach flu. The herb andrographis can be effective, but it's important to first make sure your child gets diagnosed accurately because many cases that appear to be the flu are actually food poisoning. Cinnamon, available in capsules or in tincture form, has been shown to help with both the stomach flu and food poisoning.

9. Prevention Of Allergy And Asthma:

Olive Oil
Two Teaspoonful of honey and few drops of Olive oil in lukewarm glass of water taken 1st thing in the morning on an empty stomach are actually very good at preventing allergy and asthma. If they don't stop the attack, at least they will blunt it and reduce its duration and severity.

10. Improving Appetite:

It is often very difficult to make children eat home made nutritious diet. One way to improve it is to give them two teaspoonful of honey in lukewarm glass of milk at bed time.
