- Some of the most expensive coffee in the world is 'processed' through this animal first. - Civets love the taste of coffee cherries. - The coffee bean inside the cherry is not easy to digest and gets pooped out. - Enzymes in the civet's digestive tract serve to mellow out the flavor of the bean. - Cleaning and roasting the bean kills any bacteria.

- The coffee known as "Kopi Luwak" sells for hundreds of dollars per pound. - But this has raised questions regarding the treatment of the civet. - The civets are kept in cages and force fed coffee cherries without other nutrition. - Ethical campaigns have sprung up asking coffee lovers to "cut the crap."
