Remembering the Greatest Sage of All the times, Adi Shankaracharya the Universal Guru of Advaita Philosophy,

on his birth anniversary.

The greatest son of Kerala ( my home state in India ) Jagad Guru Adi Shankaracharya who was born in 2000 BC at Kaladi and the birth anniversary of Adi Shankaracharya, falls on the panchami day (5th day) of the bright half of the Vaisakha month, according to South Indian Hindu Calendar, and on 10th may according to English calendar.

Shankaracharya consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanata and revived it at a time when Hindu culture was on decline.Adi Shankaracharya , one of India's greatest philosopher and saint, arrived on the scene when there was complete destruction of truth, culture and morality. There was utter chaos and confusion and Shankaracharya set the house in order with his peaceful message of Vedanta.

The philosophy and teachings of Adi Sankaracharya were based on the Advaita Vedanta. He preached 'Non-Dualism'. It means that each and every person has a divine existence, which can be identified with the Supreme God. The mere thought that human being is finite with a name and form subject to earthly changes, is to be discarded. The bodies are diverse, but the soul of all the separate bodies is the same, the Divine One.

Adi Shankaracharya , composed many hymns on Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, Ganesha and Subrahmanya.Famous one are Ganesha Pancharatnam, Annapurnashtakam,Kalabhairavashtakam, Dakshinamurthy Stotram, Krishnashtakam, Bhaja Govindaṃ, also known as Mohamuḍgara, Śivānandalahari, Saundaryalahari, Śrī Lakṣmīnṛsiṃha Karāvalamba Stotraṃ, Śāradā Bhujangaṃ, Kanakadhāra Stotraṃ, Bhavāni Aṣṭakaṃ, Śiva Mānasa Pūja, Pandurangashtakam, Subramanya Bhujangam.

Out of them the most famous stotras are "SHIVANANDHALAHARI" "SOUNDARYALAHARI"and BHAJAGOVINDAM.

"SHIVANANDHALAHARI" literally means Wave of Auspicious Bliss.
These verses are very potent in invoking the Grace of Lord Siva. They also contain spiritual ideas which are revealing, inspiring and insightful. One of the verses asks "Kim Durlabham" meaning what is impossible for one who worships Lord Shiva.

"SOUNDARYALAHARI" literally means "Wave of happiness".Who ever reads this be drenched forever by this "Wave of happiness".

BHAJAGOVINDAM:-It contains the essence of Vedanta and awakens the man to think, "Why am I here in this life? What is the Truth? What is the purpose of life?"

Last but not least Religion is realisation. It is not mere learning, or dialectic." This is the divine message which stands deeply imprinted in the mind of every Hindu. This is not mere fancy. This is not a mental conception. This is not a stretch of imagination. It is not a coinage of the brain. Nor is it a decision arrived at by vehement vituperation and incongruent argumentation promulgated by all ordinary intellectual prodigy.

Hindu religion exist only by the effort of the great Jagdguru Adi Shankaracharya.I pay my rich tributes to the greatest son of Kerala ( proud to be my home state in India ).

Aano bhadra krtavo yantu vishwatah.(- RIG VEDA)
