IAS officer provides frees shoes to 25,000 underprivileged kids
In December last year, the IAS officer saw few students walking to school barefoot , moved by this, the collector immediately took them to market and bought them a pair of shoes and this made him to launch scheme 'Charan Paduka Yojna' from January. The officer call this as a peoples scheme in which he only acts as a facilitator. "Non-branded shoes cost anywhere between Rs. 200-300 and people who visit my office everyday with donations appreciate the gesture. I am happy that poor students of my village are benefited with the scheme," he said. The officer asked the school authorities of 274 gram panchayats and three nagar palikas in the district to handover the list of students who come barefoot. The data revealed that 10 kids in each of the 2,500 schools were coming without shoes. The officer states that coming from the same background makes him empathetic towards such students. "I also attended a government school and know the hard work my father had put in to get me educated," he said. |
