The Abandonment of Body! The first path of study adopted by mankind was the God path, wherein it was accepted that what we actually see is very little, but unseen by the eyes there is a gigantic Universe, moulding and directing everything. Every bit of one's body was used to perceive by feeling the Universe in diverse ways. The organs of observation and perception were besides the mind, were breathing, smell, touch, sex, rapture... God and the Universe were sensed, felt and studying meant feeling as a part of the subject matter. Getting subsumed in the subject matter was the objective of a student. College meant combining with others to study and feel collectively. The subject or God must accept the student.Adoration, observation, perception, understanding, conceptualization and paradigmation were the routines of life, to ultimately reach God or that ultimate feeling, feeling as a part of the gigantic cauldron of ultimate happiness or bliss—the universe or God. God consisted of the entire nature—the flora, fauna, the mountains, the rivers, the lakes...all producing wonderful music to propel the musing. Nature was not a resource, Nature was God. And every part of one's body was part of nature, as the continuous attempt to feel God, needed every bit of nature. There was that innate security of belonging to the college or society, a basic root identity, for collegial life. That feeling of identity functioned as the emotional trigger for emotion laden or the emotional intelligence. Intelligence itself was emotional intelligence, not the presently glorified detached mechanical and feelingless calculation. Today we simply ignore the basic fact, that not one emotion can be quantified, you cannot tell your happiness or unhappiness, or anger, sadness...in kilos or litres or in miles. We live in emotions but mathematics fails totally in this basic aspect of life. In India yoga was the basic method of study. You study using every part of your body, devising diverse methods to feel and perceive. Because you are not your body only, you are the universe... The question to ask is, is the Universe my body, not the three dimensional misconception of one's self. The objective, purpose and meaning of life were to make the Universe, one's body. It was Rene Descartes, with his body-mind dualism, that has caused the abandonment of one's body, including the macro body or the universe, restricting one to just the brain. He said that everything was only a machine, including one's own body that all animals and all life forms were only feeling-less machines, incapable of feeling any pain. The human being was special because God favoured the human being, by entering into the pineal gland in the brain of the human beings only making the human beings special. He unleashed at one go the abandonment of the body as part of perception. That function was restricted to the brain exclusively. At one go he deviated the human societies into the mechanical paths from the spiritual endeavour. The meaning of spirit is air. Through the air one breathes and perceives the universe. One does not depend completely on one's eyes only to see. In fact the part played by the eyes was minimal. The breathe enters every cell of the body, converting every cell into a participant of observation and perception. The mind can only deduct, reduce and deduce, it actively tries to abandon feeling by analyzing. You cannot analyze and feel at the same time. When one takes a deep breath, one gets inspired. When one is determined, one keeps the breathe. When one leaves a work, one exhales. When one is depressed and lives in despair one becomes breathless. Depression and incapacity to breathe go together. The abandonment of one's own body is called the scientific path. Every activity of observation, perception...even conclusion is handed over to the machines. Today computers have taken over our thinking function and feeling is divested from life itself. Theories no longer flow from the Theo or God. They flow from machines. As machine is everything, as all values and sublime emotions are ditched, destruction of nature or one's own macro body does not fill one with horror. In fact the destruction of nature has become the be all and end all of all life. The bigger the weapon of mass destruction..., the greater the glory. Now a maniacal development of destructive weapons has taken over mankind. We revel in systems, but do not realize that diseases too have their own systems of degeneration. The degeneration of our bodies has taken momentum in the degeneration of our macro bodies or what we call nature. Our minds are playing an active role in the destruction, because the path of science created by Rene Descartes was the path of abandonment of the body and only keeping the mind as the domain of God. Every organ is becoming redundant, cars for legs, computers for the mind, a machine for every activity. Our minds have become so diseased that wars mean machines fighting machines. Gone are valiant warriors, defending values. We are becoming really free, enjoying the freedom of non-existence---the non existence of our macro bodies---forests, rivers, lakes, the flora and the fauna. We revel in Jallikattus and the Kambalas or the torture of the God Nandeeswara, enjoying the torture of nature has become culture.
