John Singer Sargent (Sargent John) (1856-1925) - American painter, the son of American immigrants from Florence. He studied the art of painting in Paris, even though most of his life in London. John Singer Sargent gained fame as an outstanding portrait painter of his time.Samples of painting for him were artists such as Velazquez, Gainsborough, Van Dyck. Sarge was very popular in the aristocratic art salons of Paris and London.
He worked in many styles and trends in art. At first he was very close to the Impressionists, then falls under the influence of post-impressionism and neoclassicism, in some paintings is close to the late prerafaelitizmu.
John Singer Sargent created roughly 900 oil paintings, 2,000 watercolors, a lot of graphic works. Also, throughout his career and was engaged Sargent murals.
