Missionaries-vs.-Grade-maniacs A missionary is one who strives for the achievement of an ideal, a mission, which may be achieved after some striving or a lifelong way and struggle during the entire life, the struggle continuing even after life-- an unending saga. She/he does not want any grades or ranks or felicitations or awards. For them the mission is everything—the meaning and purpose of life. But they may not be bothered about any return or consideration, still they do get the reward of a mind full of empathy, a positive attitude, a smile that clearly gives the inner happiness, the real pride in self. They do not work, write or speak to get personal certificates. A real missionary is the ultimately great and noble individual, with the aspects of God or sublimation radiating from him as the mission itself has become part of his internal hormonal communication. The mission becomes internalized. A missionary can never be lonely; the mission does not allow him to feel lonely. The internalized positivism just makes her/him the personification of real happiness. Smile is spontaneous, it need not be practised. Unfortunately in our schools and colleges we do not teach about the need for a mission in life. We bludgeon the students to work maniacally for marks and grades. We release those grade-maniacs into the world with some Degree or qualifications. Those maniacs spend their lives always trying to achieve the 'class-first', in every relationship. They cannot live without some position or ego boosting designation. In a forum their posts must be those that spin them grades. They are always hungry. They cannot understand anyone striving for a mission. They are accustomed to looking down on those whose grade is lower and missions were waste of time during their school and college lives. Many a noble mission is today stifled and killed by these grade-maniacs. But if a mission is killed then, it means that the missionary is unfit, is cowed down by the maniac. The maniac's main weapon is derision and denigration; if stone throwing and killing is permitted they will be the first rankers in the number of stones hurled. They can play to the gallery only; they are not capable of original thoughts. Because, original thoughts did not give them marks or grades in the school or college. But a mission needs the capacity to stand alone, even for life, the grade-maniacs taunting.
