Modi is in some ways out of touch with reality. He thinks ( and his party also thinks) that, he is a great orator . But his speeches do get him into trouble , quite often . His way of heaping insults on the opposition worked for him during the parliamentary elections, as the people were fed up with the many scams under UPA . But his insulting ways will not work most of the time. as people judge him by the message he transmits. Not only Modi , the BJP ( influenced by RSS) is also prone to errors of judgement. They surprisingly lost the earlier parliamentary elections, fought under Vajpayee, due to their campaign slogan ' India shining' , as most of India could not connect with it. Even now many of BJP's campaigns like love for the cow, forced patriotic sloganeering, etc do not impress the majority and creates an impression as a party out of touch with realities of life.

Now, I believe that APP is correct about the the degrees of Modi. No educated person would have compared Kerala to Somalia. I think in many respects Somalia is better than Modi's Gujarat.
