Anthro എന്ന യവന ധാതുവില്‍നിന്നാണ് മനുഷ്യസംബന്ധിയായ ഒരുപാട് വാക്കുകള്‍ കിളിര്‍ത്തുവന്നത്.
Anthropology, Anthropomorphism, anthropoid, Anthropocentric, anthropometry, Anthropophagi ഇത്യാദി.ഇവ ഓരോന്നില്‍നിന്നും നാമ്പുനീട്ടിയ വേറെ വാക്കുകളുമുണ്ട്.
നരവംശശാസ്ത്രമാണല്ലോ Anthropology.ഇത് മനുഷ്യനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ശാസ്ത്രീയവിചാരമെന്നനിലയില്‍ അക്കാദമിക് വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളില്‍ നിറഞ്ഞുനില്‍ക്കുന്നു.
ഈ പഠനത്തിന് ഇറങ്ങിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടവനാണ് anthropologist. His academic pursuits shifted from sociology to anthropology. (അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അക്കാദമിക് അധ്വാനങ്ങള്‍ സോഷ്യോളജിയില്‍നിന്ന് ആന്ത്രപ്പോളജിയിലേക്കു മാറി).Anthropomorphism എന്നാല്‍ ദൈവത്തിന് മനുഷ്യരൂപം ചാര്‍ത്തല്‍.
അതായത് representation of God under human form. Anthropophagi നരമാംസഭോജനത്തിനുള്ള പേരാണ്. ഇംഗ്ളീഷില്‍ Cannibalism - human flesh - eating എന്നു പറയുന്ന സംഗതി പല പഴയ ഗോത്രങ്ങളിലും ഇത് നിലനിന്നിരുന്നു എന്നു കരുതുന്നു.ഷേക്സ്പിയറുടെ Othello എന്ന ദുരന്തനാടകത്തില്‍ anthropophagi (ആന്‍ത്രോപ്രൊഫെജി എന്നുച്ചാരണം) എന്ന നരഭോജിവര്‍ഗത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് നായകന്‍ പറയുന്നുണ്ട്: the cannibals that each other eat / the anthropophagi / men whose heads grow beneath their shoulders' (Act I, Scene 3).
കറമ്പനായ ഒഥെല്ലോയുടെ ഇത്തരം കഥകള്‍ ഒളിച്ചുനിന്നു കേട്ടാണത്രെ ഡെസ്ഡിമോണ അയാളില്‍ അനുരക്തയായത്.Anthropic എന്ന നാമവിശേഷണമുണ്ട്:relating to human beings - മനുഷ്യനുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടത്.
മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഉല്‍പ്പത്തി (origin) പഠനവിഷയമാക്കുന്ന ശാസ്ത്രത്തിന് ഒരു പേരുണ്ട് Anthropogenesis.
Darwin's research centred on anthropogenesis (ഡാര്‍വിന്റെ ഗവേഷണങ്ങള്‍ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചത് നരോല്‍പ്പത്തിയിലാണ്).മനുഷ്യനെ ഒത്ത നടുക്കുനിര്‍ത്തിക്കൊണ്ടാണ് മിക്ക അന്വേഷണങ്ങളും നടന്നിരുന്നത്.
Man is the crown of creation എന്നതായിരുന്നു സങ്കല്‍പ്പം. അതാണ് Anthropocentric സമീപനം.
Anthropomorphosis എന്നാല്‍ മറ്റൊരു മൃഗത്തെ മനുഷ്യരൂപമാക്കി മാറ്റുന്ന ഏര്‍പ്പാടാണ്.
നമ്മുടെ പഴങ്കഥകളില്‍ ഇതിന്റെ ഒരുപാട് ഉദാഹരണങ്ങളുണ്ട്.സിംഹത്തിന് നരരൂപം കൈവരുന്നതാണല്ലോ നരസിംഹം.
