Christian Zhekel is one of the most famous artists of modern France.
His unusually juicy and bright paintings tell of the fantastic beauty of the French South: the sea, lavender fields, small towns and simple peasant life.
He was born Jan. 16, 1935 in the town of Ganj. It is known that in his younger years Zhekel regularly visited Peano bar in the old port of Marseille - a place known for being in the bar met the famous Provencal artists.
That's where the future artist has learned to paint with a palette knife. This technique of writing, he not only studied, but also improved to such an extent that it became one of the acknowledged masters.
Bright colors can be even brighter than in real life - is a hallmark of Christian paintings Zhekelya. But if you look closely, they do not seem so bright - just a lot of sentiments, a lot of sun. This southern France in all its beauty.
