Giant Gravity Defying Sculptures by Gerry Judah — Artist and designer Gerry Judah has created a stunning centerpiece for the Goodwood Festival of Speed in southern England. His towering sculptures are monuments to the history and thrill of motor sports, and a dazzling treat for the eye. Gerry's sculpture entirely made of steel and although the design looks simple, it's actually extremely complex, because the structure has to be rigid and completely balanced without the need for hundreds of supporting props. The total weight of the structure is 40 tonnes and it took 12 men four weeks to fabricate, assemble and install real cars from the world's leading corporations Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Ford, Renault, Rolls-Royce, Toyota, Honda, Alfa Romeo and Land Rover.

Gerry Judah was born in 1951 in Calcutta and grew up in West Bengal before his family moved to London when he was ten years old. As a boy, the dramatic landscapes of India and the ornate architecture of its temples, mosques and synagogues with their theatrical rituals had a profound effect on Judah. The young boy chose to spend as much time as possible in his bedroom conjuring up with pencils and paper imaginary landscapes, architectural fantasies and futuristic cars, leading him to want to become an artist.
