ഇറാഖില്‍ സുന്നി ഭീകരരും സൈന്യവും തമ്മിലുള്ള യുദ്ധം തുടരുന്നു. ആയിരത്തിലധികം പേര്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു. അഞ്ചുലക്ഷത്തിലധികം ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി. ഇറാഖില്‍ വടക്കന്‍ പ്രവിശ്യയായ നിനെവെയിലെ തല്‍ അഫര്‍ നഗരം കനത്തപോരാട്ടത്തിനൊടുവില്‍ ഭീകരര്‍ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു.കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം ഭീകരരില്‍ നിന്ന് വടക്കന്‍ മേഖലയിലെ ചില പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ സൈന്യം പിടിച്ചെടുത്തിരുന്നു. ഇതിനിടെയാണ് തല്‍ അഫറിനുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള പോരാട്ടം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. വടക്കന്‍ നഗരമായ മൊസൂളില്‍നിന്ന് ഏറെ അകലെയല്ലാതെ സിറിയന്‍ അതിര്‍ത്തിയോട് ചേര്‍ന്നുള്ള നഗരമാണ് തല്‍ അഫര്‍. ഷിയാ ഭൂരിപക്ഷ പ്രദേശമായ ഇവിടെ തുര്‍ക്കി വംശജരായ ഒട്ടേറെ പേരും താമസിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ആകെ ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ പകുതിയോളം വരുമിത്. വടക്കന്‍ ബാഗ്ദാദിലെ നാല് പ്രവിശ്യകളില്‍ ഒട്ടുമിക്കതിന്റെയും നിയന്ത്രണം ഇതോടെ ഭീകരരുടെ കൈയിലായി. ഇതില്‍ ചില പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ തിരിച്ചുപിടിക്കാനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങള്‍ പുരോഗമിക്കുകയാണെന്ന് ഇറാഖി സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അവകാശപ്പെട്ടു. 3000 മുതല്‍ 5000 വരെ അംഗങ്ങളുള്ള സംഘടനയാണ് ഐ.എസ്.ഐ.എല്‍. ഇറാഖിലെ സര്‍ക്കാറും സുന്നികളുമായുള്ള അഭിപ്രായ വ്യത്യാസങ്ങള്‍ മുതലെടുത്ത് വളര്‍ന്നുവന്ന സംഘടനയാണിത്. റമദി, ഫല്ലൂജ പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ നേരത്തേ തന്നെ ഇവരുടെ കൈവശമാണ്. ഇറാഖില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള കാഴ്ചകള്‍ .
