[www.keralites.net] Khatte-mitten khabhrain from around the world for 23/3/13

My train of thoughts went back to the mid-60s when I heard the analogy for the first time… to the AP Nagarajan-produced super hit mythological Tamil film, Thiruvilayadal…  The king of the land, a shiv bhakt/devout raises a query - and wants the answer from the learned poets in his country - whether the fragrance in a woman's hair is natural and it owes its origins to the flowers she uses.  Lord Shiv communicates His verdict by means of poem to the august palace court presided over the king through a poor poet, a role played by the then hit comedian, Nagesh, that it is natural.   The kingdom's resident poet, Nakkiran, correctly guesses the author of the poem and euphemistically comments, while the archer sits far away, his arrow has landed here.

Toi edit headline: Supreme Court sends a strong anti-terror message.

(Allowing for the Indian media's penchant for making vastly exaggerated and superfluous claims, one would respectfully submit this is the TALLEST and unbeatable claim…)

UN passes the Anti-Sri Lankan resolution, actively supported by India.

Violent anti-Sri Lankan mood in TN.

(Comment: The informed and discerning know that these will have a diamtrically opposite effect on Sri Lankan Tamils, far from helping them in any way, for such actions incite and inflame the local Sinhalese populace against the Tamils and in fact are being driven into the open arms of our hostile neighbours.  The best alternative, one would suggest, is that if the TN politicians' tears genuine and they are so concerned about the well-being and welfare of their Sri Lankan brethren, they should welcome them back from Sri Lanka and resettle them in TN)

Health info

Studies show that flowers make people happy and have strong positive effects on emotional well being.

(Me: Absolutely true.  The reason why me post so many images of flowers every day….!)

Everything we eat or drink give us gas.  Just about the only food that doesn't give us gas is rice.  Most starches, other than rice, including potatoes, corn, pasta and wheat produce gas as they are broken down in the large intestine.

Are banana peels edible?

People are unaware that banana peels are edible.  In fact, they're very nutritious.  Many cultures eat the entire banana, "peel and all", but not north Americans.  Banana peels are rich in potassium, soluble and insoluble fibre, as well as lutein, to help protect your eyes.  The mood-enhancing amino acid tryptophan is also present in the banana peel.

Energy drinks may increase blood pressure…

Consumption of energy drinks might impact cardiac health by increasing blood pressure and disturbing heart rhythm, researchers claim.

A little girl tells her mother, "Mommy, my stomach hurts."

The mother says, "That's because it's empty, you have to put something into it!"

Later that evening, the mother has a headache and says, "I have such a terrible headache?!"

The little girl looked up at her giving her the sweetest smile that any little child could give and says, "That's because it's empty, you have to put something into it.

Man to wife: "This app adds extra unnecessary words to my conversations so I sound more educated."

News of the day..

10 million Indians want to move to US.

(Me: How Indians would wish that the US frame an "Open Door" policy to help such Indians even as politicians in home states, egged on by locals, raise barriers or use violent methods against fellow-nationals from other states flocking in…)

Weird world…

Parents want daughter jailed after she loots home thrice…

London: A mum whose daughter looter their family home in a "spiteful" campaign condemned a judge for not locking her up.  Ruth Lunch, 45, of Whitworth, Lancashire, was devastated after Jennice, 19, burgled the Pounds sterling 300,000 luxury house three times in a month – stealing a gold and diamond bracelet, a treasured Pounds 4,000 watch and cigarettes.  "The thieving has gone on for donkeys years and getting the police involved was our last resort", says the lady.

Scorned wife shames husband on billboard..

A woman from Greensboro, North Carolina, took revenge on her cheating husband by shaming him on a massive billboard.  The ad has attracted the attention of several passers-by, even slowing down traffic as drivers stopped to admire the ad.  One fan told Fox News, "I love that woman.  Good for her!"

Mind chow

"Speak out in acts, the time for words has passed, and only deeds will suffice."

Off-the-cuff…

Population rise reason behind rapes: Mamata

(Me: Not exactly.  One of the chief reasons is the highly skewed female-to-male ratio in India…)

A husband and wife, both aged 60, were celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary.   During the party, a fairy appeared to congratulate them and grant them each a wish.  The wife wanted to travel around the world.  The fairy waved her wand and poof! The wife had tickets for a world cruise.

Next, the fairy asked the husband what he wanted.  He said, "I wish I had a wife 30 years younger than me."

So the fairy picked up her wand and poof! The husband was 90.
