This has reference to the  topic "മന്ത്രി ചട്ടങ്ങളുടെ ചങ്ങലയഴിച്ചു; ആനകള്‍ ഇടഞ്ഞോടുന്നു"...!
 
There are temples who conduct all the "customs and uthsavams" without any elephants also...! Who said that , "elephants are mandatory" for conduct of such temple festivals ?
It is not a matter of "customs"..but sheer saidsm at its best....enjoying out of the cruelty inflicted on the innocent animals...On the other hand, the "almighty" will be more happy if this cruelty to animals is stopped once for all..and festivals are conducted without any elephants ... Maybe the mankind will get more blessings out of the almighty by doing so...LOL...
 
Brazil fire accident was first of its kind in that part of the world...and could be considered as one of the rare incidents..But the incidents of elephants getting wild during the temple processions and festivals are happening almost once a week, especially during the festival season...If my memory is right, the news media has mentioned that the same elephant which became wild and troublesome at Perumbaavoor temple, was restless since the preceeding 4 days of that incident...Instead of giving it some "very much needed rest", human mind became greedy and wanted to make money of that innocent already sick animal and took it to the Perumbaavoor temple..
 
To enjoy something at the cruelty of another human or animal, is mere "sadism"...It is time that the regulations or laws have been formulated banning the use of elephants during temple festivals.....and other processions...
 
Along with this, I do remember the recent episode of the "kannaadi" which was telecast in Asianet TV, where the "methods of killing cattle" for getting their meat, was also shown...Really wonder why human kind is becoming soooo cruel..,..The old saying of "ahimsa" , is disappearing day after day in our country...No wonder the human mind is progressively becoming sick...Is this the same country which was preaching "AHIMSA" all these eyars ? Really puzzling...
 
Maybe this is the "kaliyug" that is being mentioned in puranas and other religious books...The day, makind stops enjoying out of the "killings and crulety shown to the animal world", the earth and the whole world will become a better place to live in !

YES, Elephants are must for temple festivals. It is not the regular feature, some time it happened, but it does not means, you stop so long long tradition only for this incident.
Recently a fire broke-out in Brazil Club and app. 300 people died ( not 3) and more then 500 injured, what will you do? will you stop club or stop using the fire? This is your absolutey useless question for debit. An empty vessel sound much.

In today's news also three people have been killed due to elephants getting wild at a temple festival. In this context, opinions from knowledgeable persons  as to whether elephants are a must for  temple festivals are solicited.

കൊച്ചി: ഇക്കുറി ഉത്സവകാലം തുടങ്ങിയശേഷം സംസ്ഥാനത്താകെ ആനകള്‍ ഇടഞ്ഞോടിയത് തൊണ്ണൂറ്റിയേഴിടത്ത്. രോഗവും അവശതയുംമൂലം ആനകള്‍ കുഴഞ്ഞുവീണത് രണ്ടിടത്ത്. 2003 ലെ സംസ്ഥാന നാട്ടാന പരിപാലനചട്ടത്തില്‍ വെള്ളംചേര്‍ത്ത് ആന ഉടമകള്‍ക്കും ബുക്കിങ് ഏജന്റുമാര്‍ക്കും അനുകൂലമായ വ്യവസ്ഥകളോടെ ആനയുടമകൂടിയായ വനംമന്ത്രി ഈ വര്‍ഷം പുറത്തിറക്കിയ ചട്ടങ്ങളാണ് നാട്ടാനകളുടെ ജീവന്‍ അപകടത്തിലാക്കുന്നത്.
 
സിനിമാതാരം ജയറാമിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥതയിലുള്ള കണ്ണന്‍ എന്നയാന കഴിഞ്ഞയാഴ്ച പറവൂര്‍ ദക്ഷിണ മൂകാംബിക ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ കുഴഞ്ഞുവീണു. പൂഞ്ഞാറിലുള്ള അക്ബര്‍ എന്ന ആന ദീര്‍ഘനേരത്തെ കഠിനാധ്വാനത്തിന്റെ ഫലമായി തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ ശ്രീപൂര്‍ണത്രയീശ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും കുഴഞ്ഞുവീണു. കടുത്ത ക്ഷയ രോഗബാധയാലാണ് കണ്ണന്‍ കുഴഞ്ഞുവീണത്. പ്രായം 85 ആയ "പാലാ ഗംഗാധരനെ" തൊടുപുഴ അറക്കുളം ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ എഴുന്നുള്ളിപ്പിന് എത്തിച്ചതും വിവാദമായി.
 
60 വയസ്സിനുമേല്‍ പ്രായമുള്ള ആനകള്‍ക്ക് വിശ്രമം അനുവദിക്കണമെന്ന് വ്യവസ്ഥയുള്ളതാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രോത്സവങ്ങള്‍ കൊടുമ്പിരികൊണ്ടു തുടങ്ങുന്നതിനു മുമ്പേ പീഡനങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗമായി ആനയോട്ടങ്ങള്‍ പതിവായതും ആശങ്കയ്ക്കിടയാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. തൃശൂര്‍ ചെമ്പൂത്ര, കല്ലട പൊറത്തിശേരി, പെരുമ്പാവൂര്‍ കൂടുമഠം ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ 97 ആനയിടച്ചിലുകളാണ് ഇതിനകം ഉണ്ടായത്.
 
ഉത്സവകാലത്തെ വമ്പന്‍ കൊയ്ത്ത് ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ട് ആനയുടമകള്‍ക്കും ബുക്കിങ് ഏജന്റുമാര്‍ക്കും അനുകൂലമായ വ്യവസ്ഥകളോടെ തിരക്കിട്ട് പുറത്തിറക്കിയ പുതിയ നാട്ടാന പരിപാലനചട്ടമാണ് ഇവിടെ വില്ലന്‍. 2012 ഡിസംബര്‍ 18നാണ് ചട്ടത്തിന്റെ കരട് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചത്. 20ന് അന്തിമചട്ടം അംഗീകരിച്ച് വിജ്ഞാപനം ഇറക്കി. 2003ലെ പ്രധാന വ്യവസ്ഥകള്‍ പലതും ഇതിലില്ല.
 
എഴുന്നള്ളിക്കുന്ന ആനകളുടെ ആരോഗ്യനില സംബന്ധിച്ച് ദിവസവും വെറ്ററിനറി ഡോക്ടറുടെ സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് വേണമെന്നായിരുന്നു പഴയ വ്യവസ്ഥ. നിലവില്‍ അത് 14 ദിവസത്തിലൊന്ന് എന്നാക്കി മാറ്റി. ഇതുമൂലം ക്ഷയംപോലെ ഗുരുതര രോഗബാധയുള്ള ആനകളുടെ ആരോഗ്യനില അടിക്കടി പരിശോധിക്കാനാകുന്നില്ല.
 
ആനകളെ ജില്ലകടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകാന്‍ അതത് കലക്ടര്‍മാര്‍, റേഞ്ച് ഓഫീസര്‍, ഡിവൈഎസ്പി, സര്‍ക്കിള്‍ ഇന്‍സ്പെക്ടര്‍ എന്നിവരുടെ അനുമതി വേണമെന്ന വ്യവസ്ഥയും മാറ്റി. ഇതുമൂലം ഏതു നേരത്തും എവിടേക്കും ആനകളെ കൊണ്ടുപോകാം.
 
കേന്ദ്രചട്ടം അനുസരിച്ച് ദിവസം 20 കിലോമീറ്ററിലധികം ആനകളെ നടത്തരുത്. ഇവിടെ അത് 30 കിലോമീറ്ററാക്കി.
 
മൂന്നുമണിക്കുര്‍ എഴുന്നള്ളിച്ചാല്‍ 12 മണിക്കൂര്‍ വിശ്രമം അനുവദിക്കണമെന്നുണ്ട്. വനം മന്ത്രിയുടെ പുതിയ വ്യവസ്ഥപ്രകാരം വിശ്രമസമയം ആറു മണിക്കൂറായി ചുരുക്കി.
 
ഇതെല്ലാം ആനകളുടെ ജീവന്‍ അപകടത്തിലാക്കിയെന്ന് ആനപ്രേമികള്‍ പരാതിപ്പെടുന്നു. ആനകളെ വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നതിലാണ് കൂടുതല്‍ ഇളവ് അനുവദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. എത്ര കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ വേണമെങ്കിലും ഒറ്റയടിക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകാം. മോട്ടോര്‍വാഹന വകുപ്പിന്റെ പെര്‍മിറ്റുള്ള വണ്ടിയിലാകണമെന്നു പറയുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും വണ്ടിക്കു മുന്നില്‍ നാലും പിന്നില്‍ എട്ടും ചക്രങ്ങള്‍ വേണമെന്ന നിബന്ധന പാലിക്കുന്നില്ല. വനംമന്ത്രിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള ആന ഉടമാ സംഘത്തിന്റെ ഇടപെടല്‍മൂലം വാഹനവകുപ്പ് നടപടി എടുക്കുന്നില്ല. ഏജന്റുമാര്‍വഴിയാണ് ഉടമകള്‍ ആനകളെ ഉത്സവത്തിന് നല്‍കുന്നത്. ബുക്കിങ് അനുസരിച്ച് ഓരോ സ്ഥലത്തും ആനയെ എത്തിക്കാന്‍ ഉടമാസംഘം 70 ലോറികളും തയ്യാറാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. വാടകയ്ക്കു പുറമെ 10,000 രൂപ ജാമ്യവും വാങ്ങിയാണ് വണ്ടി നല്‍കുന്നത്. കേസും മറ്റ് വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളും നേരിട്ടുകൊള്ളാമെന്ന ഉറപ്പിലാണത്രെ ജാമ്യത്തുക വാങ്ങുന്നത്. ഇതെല്ലാം മുതലാക്കി പരമാവധി സാമ്പത്തിക നേട്ടം ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ട് ആനകളുടെ പ്രായവും ആരോഗ്യനിലയും പരിഗണിക്കാതെ കഠിനാധ്വാനം ചെയ്യിക്കുകയാണ് ബുക്കിങ് ഏജന്റുമാര്.
