CAUTION : Laminating Property Documents & Other Certificates

Most of us are tempted to get the documents laminated so as to preserve them.

"We had our property documents laminated for their safe keeping. This was years ago.
Recently we tried for a bank loan by mortgaging the property docs. At the final stage of verification of original documents, the Bank Lawyer flatly refused even to look at the documents saying that they are laminated. The reason being that, since they are laminated, the original documents cannot be differentiated from the colour photocopies. Appears, it was a hard learned truth as the Bank was duped by the colour photocopies of the original documents, duly laminated and presented.

We were asked to get the documents de-laminated ! else forego the loan.

The concept of de-laminating was something like "OMG, Is it possible ?" to us. We started searching those who can de - laminate documents.

The internet gave us the address of one at Lahore in Pakistan. That apart, we got another person in Bangalore who quoted Rs 3500 per document, with 20 documents on hand, we were looking at cool 70 K for de -lamination. We were about to be robbed.

At last we could find some one at Mysore who agreed for Rs 500 per paper. We rushed to Mysore from Bangalore, got them done. The whole experience has left us with lot of knowledge.

We have a lesson here. Pl do not laminate the original property documents. The Banks will not touch them. No loans can be taken on them. Even the buyers would hesitate at the time of sales. Further, Please be careful while receiving such laminated documents in a transaction. Whilst browsing, I have also come across where the people have run into Visa problems while submitting the laminated mark sheets, degree certificates."

Do pass it to other friends too.....

14 Reasons to Love Your Age

Aging is not normally associated in the most positive of ways, but what if contrary to popular belief, I told you that if you fall in the 40+ bracket, you're fitter, healthier, happier and more beautiful? Sounds too good to be true? Bear with me - science will back this idea up.
Walking

Age Bracket: 40+
Advantage: You're fitter
While turning 40 may spark fear in some, use your 40s to usher in a new kind of athleticism, marked by training smarter with more time and resolve.
1. Endurance Improves: Muscles are made up of individual fibers designed for either endurance (slow twitch) or strength (fast twitch). A meta-analysis found that adults ages 61 to 84 developed less overall muscle fatigue, in comparison to 21 to 36-year-olds. Researchers believe that this is in part, due to a greater proportion of slow-twitch fibers in older muscle.
2. Muscles Remember: It takes a great deal of practice to get good at sports that involve repetitive movement. But, once you get into the rhythm, muscles 'remember' and with just a little prompting, the motion can be repeated efficiently.
3. More Time and Incentive to Train: According to a recent survey of single boomer women, 59% said they work out several times a week, and 54% are more active now than they were at age 35. As we age, we often focus on preventing health problems. This idea is backed by a survey, which found that people of 55 and older, are more likely to exercise to improve their health, than for other reasons.

Age Bracket: 40+
Advantage: You're Healthier
True, in our 40s, aches and pains are a little more prevalent - but life helps us to stay healthier in other ways.
4. Stress Backs Off - Finally: The negative attributes of chronic stress - risk of heart attack, depression and disease - are well known, but at least, stress does ease with age. According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, stress levels peak in your mid-to-late 20s, then steadily decline.

5. Blood Vessels become more Resilient: The idea that artery linings deteriorating due to oxidative stress (which has been linked tocardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer), is being challenged by some scientists. New research on mice shows the ability of artery linings to withstand oxidative stress may actually improve with age.
6. Sex becomes more Satisfying: In one study, 40 researchers tracked the health of 806 women and found that 61% of survey respondents reported being satisfied with their sex lives. The study also found that 67% of sexually active women were able to achieve an orgasm always, or most of the time.
Beauty

Age Bracket: 50+
Advantage: You're More Beautiful
Believe it or not, age does enhance good looks. Take a look at some of the most attractive women in this age group - Christie Brinkley, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sharon Stone... but, how do you get more beautiful with age?
7. Temples and Cheekbones get more Defined: By the time 50 rolls along, the fat pads in our face thin out, giving more elegant features.
8. Glowing Replaces Sweat: As we age, our sweat glands weaken, which in turn slows your ability to perspire.
9. Legs Deforest: By the time we hit 50 and you begin to experience menopause, our body hair starts to thin - this may have to do with a decrease in male hormones, or years of plucking and waxing, which weakens follicles.
10. Breakouts Decrease: At this age, our oil glands shrink. As a result, we get fewer breakouts.
11. Pores Shrink: Tight, beautiful skin depends on pore size. In some women, as they age, their oil glands shrink and so do their pores.

Age Bracket: 60+
Advantage: You're Happier
Living life every day with a half smile on our face may seem like an impossible feat when we're young (given all the responsibilities you have), but with age, it becomes a natural countenance.
12. Negativity Declines: Research shows that people generally think more positively after they've hit the 65 mark. Scientists say the amygdala (the part of the brain that is linked to emotion) actually begins to respond less to negative images with age. It was also found that older adults can snap out of negative emotions a lot quicker, because they tend to focus on the positive.

13. Happiness Peaks: A survey (of 23,000 people) conducted by the Centre for Economic Performance in London, saw that there are two happiness peaks in life. One occurs at age 23, and the other, at age 69. It has been speculated that the later-life peak is due to no longerfacing disappointment about career and personal goals.
14. Anger, Stress and Worry Decline: In a survey (of 34,000 people) published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, many reported experiencing these emotions less frequently from age 50. People in their 70s and 80s felt them the least.

28 Creative Uses for Orange Peels

The winter season is all about citrus fruits, and oranges in particular, which means that your hands will surely smell of orange rinds, and a lot of peels will be thrown in the trash. Here are some unique uses for orange rinds that you may not have thought of!

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net

1. Orange Zest

This is probably the most self-explanatory of all the uses for orange peels. Zesting an orange peel with a shredder is a great way to add a sweet and tangy taste to your meat marinades or favorite baked goods. Orange zest can even taste great in your morning cup of coffee or afternoon cup of tea!

2. Preserve Brown Sugar

Add your orange peels to brown sugar to help draw the moisture away and keep it from solidifying.

3. Start a Fire

Oranges can also be used to start a fire! Use a dried orange peel as kindling the next time you are on a camping trip, or use it to make your hearth fires fragrant and bright.

4. Make Orange Peels Dipped in Chocolate

A wonderful delicacy, candied orange peels are a popular after-meal snack in a number of European cultures, and they are quite easy to make too! Just melt some chocolate and cover one or all sides in a sugared orange peel.

5. Make Orange Peel Candy

Candied orange peels are made by boiling a dried orange peel in sugar for about an hour. You can then cover them in chocolate as mentioned above, or roll them around in sugar for an even sweeter taste!

6. Orange Peel Infused Olive Oil

If you want to give your salads a kick, place one dried orange peel in your olive oil to make your greens all the more exciting.

7. Make Orange Tea

No need for tea bags here! Dry out a few orange peels and place them in hot water next time you are craving a warm 'orangey' beverage. Orange tea is also great for when you are feeling congested - the citrus will open up your sinuses.

8. Create a Natural Sponge

Orange peels can be used as a sponge too! Before the peel completely dries out, it contains a number of essential oils that are helpful in degreasing surfaces as well as pots and pans. If your sink or counter is full of grease, use an orange peel to scrub it down.

9. Deodorizer

It's no secret that the smell of a freshly peeled orange can clear out a room. Place the peels at the bottom of your garbage bin, or hang them from a string in your bathroom for a constant fresh scent.

10. Garbage Disposal Cleaner

A great way to clean out your garbage disposal is by putting orange peels down the disposal. Place them in the disposal and run it until clear, then run some water down after it. The citrus will get rid of any scents coming from the disposal.

11. Air Freshener

Boil orange peels in hot water to help freshen the air in the kitchen. You can also add a cinnamon stick or mint into the mix if you want to recreate the smell of air fresheners. If you have a fire going at home, place a paper bag filled with dried orange peels into the fire and your house will smell wonderful.

12. Refrigerator Deodorizer

Orange is also an excellent deodorizer for your refrigerator. Cut an orange in half and remove the fruit from inside (eat it!). Then, fill up half the orange with salt and put it in a small bowl in your refrigerator for up to a week or two.

13. Citrus Cleaner

You can make your own citrus cleaner by infusing vinegar with orange peels and a bit of boiling water.

14. Orange Peel Candle

Make a candle at home with orange peels infused inside.

15. Topiary Tree

Make your own topiary tree with orange peels for a fantastic smelling piece of home decor.

16. Body Scrub

Wrap up the orange peels in gauze pads and rub them on your skin while you are in the shower. The scrub will brighten your skin and give it a great smell.

17. Bath Oil

Extract the oil from the orange peels by grinding up the peels and fermenting them with vodka or alcohol for about 3 days. Strain the oil and add a few drops to your bath. Orange oil is known for its anti-inflammatory properties as well as its ability to improve skin tone and texture.

18. Bath Powder

Dry out the orange peels completely and then grind them down to paste in the food processor. Do this until the rinds become a fine powder and then sprinkle only a bit in your bath.

19. Lowers Blood Pressure

Orange rinds can be used to lower blood pressure. They have been a part of Chinese herbal medicines for thousands of years for this purpose.

20. Suppresses Depression and Anxiety

Orange oil can be used to naturally relieve anxiety and depression by taking a bath or rubbing just a bit on the temple and forehead area.

21. Make a Bird Feeder

To make a natural bird feeder that birds will love, cut an orange in half and remove the fruit. Take the orange half and poke 3 evenly spaced holes near the cut section of the peel. There, attach a sturdy piece of string and hang it from a tree. Fill the empty orange peel with bird seed and wait for your flying visitors to pile in!

22. Mosquito Repellant

If you are looking for a natural way to repel mosquitos, take fresh orange peels and rub them all over your skin. The citrusy smell will repel the mosquitos.

23. Slug Repellant

If you have a slug problem in your garden, try spreading some orange peels on top of the soil to keep them at bay.

24. Ant Repellant

Place orange peels in problem areas of your house where you usually experience an ant problem. Orange oil can also be used instead of peels.

25. Keep Stray Cats Away

If you want to keep stray cats away from your home, place orange peels outside. If you have a cat at home that tends to get into things it shouldn't, you can rub the peels or place them (or rub orange oil) near the dear things in your home (like your sofa).

26. Make Silly Teeth

Orange peels can be used to make funny teeth with kids that they can put in their mouth. Just cut off a slice of an orange, eat the fruit, and then carve out fun designs from the peel. Have the children walk around with the peel covering their teeth - they are sure to have a great time.

27. Orange Peel Boats

Cut an orange in half, remove the fruit and use the halves as little boats in the bathtub or out on the lake!

28. Orange Peel Jewelry

Make fragrant and fun jewelry with the little princesses you know, entirely out of orange peels!

Don't throw away those orange peels!

Are YOU drinking enough water?

It's shaping up to be another summer of record-breaking high temperatures and the news media is beginning to sound like a broken record, too – over and over again we're reminded to keep ourselves well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. But it's an important message – not just during a heat wave, but also throughout the year because water serves so many critical functions in the body.

I'm sure you will agree that there's nothing more refreshing than a nice ice-cold glass of water. Despite this, most of us don't drink enough water on a daily basis. By depriving ourselves of the world's most natural resource, we are continuously damaging our bodies. If you experience any of the following, you can improve your situation with a refreshing glass of water.

1. Your Mouth is Dry

This seems pretty obvious, but the ramifications might not be so. Of course, any time you feel that sticky, nasty feeling in your mouth, you'd obviously reach for some sort of liquid. But sugary drinks are only a temporary solution to a larger problem. Drinking water lubricates the mucus membranes in your mouth and throat, which will continue to keep your mouth moist with saliva long after that first sip.

2. Your Skin is Dry

Your skin is your body's largest organ, so of course it needs to stay hydrated. In fact, dry skin is one of the earliest signs of full-on dehydration, which can lead to much larger problems. A lack of water means a lack of sweat, which leads to a body's inability to wash away excess dirt and oil accumulated throughout the day. If you want to stave off breakouts, your first recourse should be to drink more water.

3. You're Overly Thirsty

We went over dry mouth already, but thirst goes beyond a desert-like tongue. Anyone who's ever had a hangover can tell you that, upon waking up, your body just can't get enough water. Alcohol dehydrates the entire body, and drinking water sends "YES PLEASE!" signals to the brain until your fluid levels get back to baseline. Listen to what your body is telling you; it knows what it's talking about!

4. Your Eyes Are Dry

By now it should be clear that drinking water affects more than just your mouth and throat. A lack of water intake leads to dry, bloodshot eyes (again, think of that last pounding hangover). Without water in the body, your tear ducts dry up. If you're thinking "So what if I can't cry?" realize that this could cause much more harm to your eyes, especially if you wear contacts on a daily basis.

5. You Experience Joint Pain

Our cartilage and spinal discs are made up of about 80% water. This is an absolute necessity to keep our bones from grinding against each other with every step we take. By keeping your body hydrated, you ensure that your joints can absorb the shock of sudden movements, such as running, jumping, or falling awkwardly.

6. Your Muscle Mass Decreases

Your muscles, also, are comprised mostly of water. Obviously, less water in the body means less muscle mass. Drinking water before, during, and after a workout not only keeps you hydrated and comfortable, it also brings water to the right places in your body, and decreases the chance of developing inflammation and soreness related to exercise and weightlifting.

7. You Stay Sick Longer

Drinking water allows your body to continuously flush out toxins. Your organs work to filter our certain waste products like a machine, but if you don't fuel the machine with water, it cannot work properly. What ends up happening in a dehydrated body is organs start to pull water from stored areas like your blood, which leads to a whole new set of problems.

8. You Feel Fatigued and Lethargic

As we just mentioned, when a body is dehydrated it "borrows" water from your blood. A lack of properly hydrated blood leads to a lack of oxygen being brought throughout the body. Of course, a lack of oxygen leads to sleepiness and outright fatigue. A lack of stamina means you'll start to experience that 2PM crash earlier and earlier in your day (and remember, coffee won't help in the long run).

9. You Experience Hunger Pangs

When you're dehydrated, your body might start to think it needs some food. This happens throughout the day, and overnight when you wake up craving that midnight snack. However, eating food creates more work for your body, whereas drinking water purifies and your organs and supplies it with the fuel it needs to go through the other processes a body goes through.

10. You Experience Digestive Problems

We spoke before about the mucus in our mouth and throat, and how keeping hydrated allows the membrane to function correctly. This also applies to the entire digestive system. Without proper hydration, the amount and strength of mucus in the stomach lessens, allowing stomach acid to do some major damage to your insides. This leads to what we commonly refer to as heartburn and indigestion.

11. You Experience Constipation

Staying hydrated helps lubricate the digestive system. During the process of dehydration, the colon uses up the water that would have been used by the intestines in the next step of the digestive process. Without going into too much detail, I'll let you figure out what a lack of lubricant in the intestines leads to.

12. You Experience Reduced Urination

Believe it or not, if you're not taking a trip to the restroom 4-7 times a day, you're probably not drinking enough water. And when you do go #1, it should be a light yellow or clear color. If it's a darker yellow, your body is telling you it's lacking proper hydration. In extreme cases, dehydration can lead to urinary tract infections, in which case you should consult a doctor right away.

13. You Experience Premature Aging

The amount of water our bodies retain naturally decreases as we age. Obviously, what this means is that, as we get older, we should consciously increase our water intake. While premature aging is more evident on the outside, the damage it does to our insides will ultimately be felt over time. To decrease the risk of running your body raw, it's important to continue to drink water throughout your lifetime.

14. You're reading this and have got this far

If you clicked on this article, chances are you thought to yourself "I don't think I drink enough water." The European Food Safety Authority and many others recommend that women should drink about 1.6 litres of fluid and men should drink about 2.0 litres of fluid per day. That's about eight glasses of 200ml each for a woman, and 10 glasses of 200ml each for a man. However, the amount a person needs to drink to avoid getting dehydrated will vary depending on a range of factors, including their size, the temperature and how active they are. So, for example, if you're exercising hard in hot weather you'll need to drink more.

All drinks count, including hot drinks such as tea and coffee, but water, milk and fruit juices are the healthiest. It is best to avoid alcoholic drinks.

Also, try to avoid sugary, soft and fizzy drinks that can be high in added sugars. These can be high in calories and bad for teeth.
