10 Natural Ways to Treat Sunburns.

As hard as I try to make my family use sunscreen, sometimes they still get a sunburn and frankly, so do I. There are many skin care products that help these burns heal faster and deal with the pain, but over the years I have learned that simple, natural and home-made treatments work just as well. So the next time your skin gets a little red from the sun, try one of the treatments on this list!
1. Aloe Vera gel
The cool and gooey aloe vera gel is packed full of moisture, vitamins and antioxidants, perfect for healing damaged skin. It is one of the oldest and most popular natural sunburn remedies, and from my experience one of the best too. Get some pure aloe vera gel from your local shop, 100% - 90% for best results. Rub it on the skin if you get a sunburn or if you just want to cool your skin and take care of it it at the same time.
2. Cucumber paste
We all know the myth about cucumbers being good for you skin and there is quite a lot of truth behind it. Take two cucumbers and place them in the fridge until they are nice and cold. Blend them with a bit of cornstarch for a thicker paste that will be easy to apply and ready to use in just a few moments. This is a perfect solution if you are caught without any other means or relieving the burn.
3. Coconut oil
This tropical oil is a wonderful body care product in many ways, from a natural hair conditioner to a yummy nutritional superstar. It is also one of the best sunburn remedies around, it is fast working, easy to use and leaves a great smell.
4. Chilled milk
Milk is rich in protein and when applied (using a simple compress) it will instantly cool and form a protective layer on sunburned skin. To make the compress, use a piece of gauze or soft flannel and soak it in chilled milk. Gently squeeze out the excess liquid and then press down gently over the burn. Leave the compress on the skin for at least ten minutes for the pain to go away.
5. Cornstarch
Another summer skin-saver you probably already have in your kitchen and may have never known about its benefits. To use cornstarch on sunburns make a paste by mixing it with chilled water. Apply the paste to the affected area and leave until the skin has cooled down. It is a bit more messy the other natural remedies listed here, so you might want to use it in the bath.
6. Baking soda
Used as a paste with some water, and just like cornstarch, baking soda is found in almost every house. It's also easy to find if you are traveling and need a fix on the go. Some people say it is a bit less effective than cornstarch, but from my experience you are not too picky when your back is on fire.
7. Black tea
Black tea has a lot of tannin and antioxidants which make it a great sunburn remedy. Soak a few teabags in a bucket of cool water and wait for a few minutes until the tannin has released (the water will turn a bit brown). You can use either the teabag itself or a compress made with the brown water. I have heard that for really bad and large sunburns people even hae a cool bath with teabags, but I have never tried it myself.
8. Oatmeal
Oats are rich in polysaccharides that can moisturize, coat and heal burned and damaged skin. Cook some porridge in the usual way but add a little extra water for a smoother consistency. Wait for the oatmeal to cool and then smear it over your skin. Do not rub the paste around as it will exfoliate and damage fragile skin, just let it sit there and do its job.
9. Vitamin E
This might not be a completely "natural" cure but at least with a capsule of vitamin E you know exactly what you are getting and with no added chemicals. Following an initial cooling treatment, breaking a capsule of vitamin E and rubbing it on your skin will help reduce visible signs of sun damage like sun spots and wrinkles.
10. Kukui Nut oil
This exotic oil is not something you see in every kitchen, but it has been used by Hawaiian natives as a sunburn remedy for over 1,500 years. Since we all know that Hawaii is a place full of sunshine, you can consider the locals experts when it comes to dealing with the sun.
And last but not least, remember this: The best thing for your body while you are in the sun is water. It is recommended to drink around 2 liters of water a day, and even more if you are in the sun, and in danger of sunburns and sunstrokes. So remember to drink, use sunscreen, mind your time in the sun and have a great summer!

Simple method to stop hair fall and regrow hair- PROVEN scientifically!

The most common method we follow for hair loss is changing of Shampoos, conditioners, using hair oils, external application of FDA approved solutions, and many home remedies. But do you know the problem can lie inside your body and these methods can be of no effect at all?

There are many reasons for hair loss from age to genetics, but lets concentrate on the lesser known reason: The hormone Testosterone.

What? Do hormones cause hair fall?
Yes. The main mechanism into losing hair is due to the steroid hormone testosterone.
Testosterone is a male hormone which is converted by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase into dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, which attacks and shortens the growth phase of the hair, shrinks the size of the hair follicle until it stops growing new hair completely. This causes Androgenetic Alopecia.

Are women affected by this?
Yes. Women also have testosterone (male hormones) in their body.

Oh.. I had no clue hormones can be a reason too. What do I do now?
Do not worry. All you have to do is to add the two supplements/capsules in your daily life. They are:
1. Zinc
2. Vitamin B6

There have been studies in which Zinc is shown to inhibit 5 alpha reductase activity and it has therefore been concluded that Zinc is beneficial in disease and disorders related to an excess in dihydrotestosterone (DHT). There have also been studies which have shown that vitamin B6, Zinc and Azelaic Acid combined together even at very low concentrations reduced a 90% inhibition of 5 alpha reductase activity.

Do you think this is going to make any difference?
Yes!
Vit B6: S
everal studies have used the vitamin B6 in hair regrowth studies with pleasant results. Once such study appeared in the Polish journal Wiadomosci Lekarskie in 2001 and concluded that vitamin B6 injections improved hair condition and helped reduce hair loss in women. Another study appeared in the November 1998 British journal of Dermatology.

Zinc:
Zinc is another nutrient that helps maintain healthy hair, according to Columbia University Health Services. Dull, brittle and unhealthy hair is caused by lack of normal zinc levels in your system.

OK. What is the required intake of these supplements?

The amount of vitamin B6 you need depends on your age. Average daily recommended amounts are listed below in milligrams (mg).
Birth to 6 months0.1 mg
Infants 7–12 months0.3 mg
Children 1–3 years0.5 mg
Children 4–8 years0.6 mg
Children 9–13 years1.0 mg
Teens 14–18 years (boys)1.3 mg
Teens 14–18 years (girls)1.2 mg
Adults 19–50 years1.3 mg
Adults 51+ years (men)1.7 mg
Adults 51+ years (women)1.5 mg
Pregnant teens and women1.9 mg
Breastfeeding teens and women2.0 mg

The amount of zinc you need each day depends on your age. Average daily recommended amounts for different ages are listed below in milligrams (mg):
Birth to 6 months2 mg
Infants 7–12 months3 mg
Children 1–3 years3 mg
Children 4–8 years5 mg
Children 9–13 years8 mg
Teens 14–18 years (boys)11 mg
Teens 14–18 years (girls)9 mg
Adults (men)11 mg
Adults (women)8 mg
Pregnant teens12 mg
Pregnant women11 mg
Breastfeeding teens13 mg
Breastfeeding women12 mg

(The above data is based on U.S. Department of Health &Human Services)

Any other advice?
-Never take Vit B6 and Zinc in larger quantities without consultation with your doctor (follow the recommended amounts listed in the chart above).
-Some doctors may prescribe a higher dose of zinc and vitamin B6 depending on how severe your hair fall is (if it is due to hormone)
-If hair fall is excess, it can be due to other problems such as Thyroid, Anemia.
-Do not expect rapid results as supplements take weeks to months to show improvement.
-Zinc and Vitamin B6 are healthy supplements which can be taken even if your hair is healthy. They are excellent for skin problems, regulate your metabolism and boost your immune system.

How Can You Treat Cracked Heels?

One of the most important habits to adopt if you have cracked heels or have had it in the past is to keep your feet moisturized at all time. Use a soft foot file on your cracked heels to reduce the development of fissures and to remove dry and dead skin cells. And remember, getting rid of cracked heels can be a process and the condition will not disappear overnight.

1. Use Oils
oil
Hydrogenated vegetable oil is said to be very good at treating cracked heels. Other oils that are good for treating the condition are: sesame, coconut, olive and vegetable oils.

First clean your feet with soap and water and pat them dry. If you already have cracks in your heels, rub your feet down for a few minutes with a pumice stone to get rid of the dry skin. Then, clean the area with a tissue and apply the oils to any cracks or sores in your heels. Rub the oils in liberally and leave the oil on your feet overnight. For effective results, apply oil each night for a week and you will experience a dramatic improvement in your cracked heels.

2. Ripe Bananas

ripe bananas
Bananas can be an excellent moisturizer if they are used correctly. Mash up the banana and apply it to your dry and cracked heels. Leave the bananas on your feet for 15 minutes, then wash off the mixture with warm water. Later, use cold water to wash off the remainder and to enliven your feet.

3. Paraffin Wax

paraffin
If you experience pain from cracked heels, paraffin wax can give you almost instant relief. Mix the paraffin with coconut or mustard oil and then heat it until the wax melts. Use the resulting liquid and apply it to your feet to be left overnight or wash it off in the morning. You'll be amazed with the results!

4. Lemon Juice

lemon
Applying lemon juice to cracked heels with soften the skin as lemon has acidic properties. Stick your feet in a bucket of lukewarm water and lemon juice for about 10 to 15 minutes to hydrate your feet. Once you finish, clean your feet with a pumice stone and pat your feet dry.

5. Rice Flour With Honey and Vinegar

rice flour
To remove dead skin cells this is a great natural scrub. To make the scrub, take 2 tablespoons of rice flour and mix it with 2-3 tablespoons of honey and vinegar. This should make a thick paste. Then, soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes, apply the scrub on your heels and wash it off with warm water after it's dry.

6. Honey
honey
Using just honey alone can also aid your cracked heels because it has antibacterial and moisturizing properties. When you soak your feet, mix about 2-3 tablespoons of honey into the warm water and soak your feet for 15 minutes. This will leave your feet feeling moist and supple.

7. Salt Water

salt water
Believe it or not, this is an excellent remedy for dry and cracking heels, and it may be why most of the beach bums you know have soft, baby-like feet. Place your feet into a bucket of salty warm water and leave them there for 15 minutes. Now remove your feet and place them in a bucket of cold water for about 10 minutes. This will improve your blood circulation to your feet.

8. Indian Lilac or Neem Leaves

neems
If you are able to purchase this herb fresh or have a paste available to you at your natural foods store, this solution is most effective in ridding of cracked heels for an extended period. Apply a mixture of neem leave powder and turmeric powder to the cracked area of your heels. Leave the mixture there for 30-45 minutes and wash away the paste when you are done. Pat your feet dry. You should see results in only a few days!

9. Petroleum Jelly

petroleum

If you regularly scrub your cracked heels with a pumice stone, and then apply petroleum jelly, this could aid in getting rid of the dryness. After you have scrubbed your feet with a pumice stone, apply petroleum jelly to them before you go to bed. You will wake with softer and mostly crack-free heels.

10. Rosewater and Glycerin
rosewater
Mix together equal amounts of rosewater and glycerin and rub the mixture over your cracked heels. If any of the fissures are open or bleeding, this could sting as a result of the glycerin (it contain alcohol). This should keep the skin soft for hours, and the mixture can be easily applied before you put on sandals or walk around barefoot outside.

11. Drinking Water

drinking water
It is important to keep your body hydrated because this will prevent your feet from going dry. You should drink about 12-15 glasses of water a day to give your heel the necessary elasticity so that it won't crack in the future.

12. Watch Your Calcium Intake

milk

To improve the state of your cracked heels, you need to watch your calcium intake and make sure that you are getting enough. Add foods like yogurt, milk and cheese, broccoli or fish to your diet.

13. Vitamin E and Iron

broccoli
By adding Vitamin E to your diet, you will significantly aid in the occurrence of cracked heels. Foods like vegetable oils, green vegetables, nuts and whole grains are great sources of vitamin E that you should try and incorporate into your diet. Iron is also important to curing cracked heels so make sure that you are eating enough meat, chicken and fish.

14. Omega 3 Fatty Acids
fish
Foods like flaxseeds, flaxseed oil and cold water fish are known to be rich sources of Omega 3's, which help reduce the effect of cracked heels.

If you suffer from cracked heels, try some of these natural and home-made remedies and you are sure to have soft, supple feet in no time!
