From the world of medical science…
For back pains…
What is cupping?
New research shows that the ancient therapy of cupping can significantly decrease pain. Cupping involves placing glass cups on the body, either on affected areas or on meridian points, to create suction, thereby reducing pain. In a German study, cupping reduced chronic neck pain by an average of 45%.
(Me: no harming in trying this out in chronic cases where other forms of treatment don't give much relief)

Well-known columnist, Jug Suraiya, writes in ToI, Wednesday…
"If 'jaath' (caste) gets equated with race, India would become the world's most racist country
When South Africa practised the racist policy of apartheid which segregated white people from black people and 'coloureds', India was the forefront of the countries to denounce such discrimination. However, there were some – both Indians as well as foreigners – who felt that while denouncing the obnoxious policy of apartheid was a moral imperative, India's stand on the issue was ambivalent in that India too had for thousands of years been practicing a similar form of discrimination based on caste…"
(Me: hmmm. For all its protestations, remonstrations or semantic quibbling to the contrary, the typical hypocrites that we are as a nation, casteism is as bad as apartheid)

The world's oldest language…
23 words that have survived 15,000 years: Thou, I, Not, That, We, To give, Who, This, What, Man/male, Ye, Old, Mother, To hear, Hand, Fire, To pull, Black, To flow, Bark, Ashes, To spit, Worm.
Languages spoken by billions of people across Europe and Asia are descended from an ancient tongue uttered in southern Europe at the end of the last ice age. The claim points to a common origin for vocabularies as varied as English and Urdu, Japanese and Itelmen, a language spoken along the north-eastern edge of Russia.
The ancestral language was spoken at least 15,000 years ago.
(Me: Yet, language chauvinists in most states in India claim theirs is the oldest and far superior to the rest…).

How to lead a happy married life…
A happy married life needs a lot of hard work, sacrifice and trust to make it a success, and this goes without saying the amount of selflessness, understand and care.
1) Place your commitment to each other as a higher priority than work, hobbies and even children.
2) Talk about dreams, fears, hopes and fantasies rather than about work, family or chores.
3) Share your very private and personal feelings and thus get emotionally engaged with your partner.
4) Be nice to each other. We all want to feel special, particularly from ou8r lifelong partner.
5) Deal with problems like arguments about making, saving and spending money in respectful way with lots of compromise and communication.
