[www.keralites.net] Demonetization - A new perspective!

Demonetization: What does the world's most unbiased reporter say?

by chaiwallah

This might come as a shock to The Hindu, The Troll, The Wire and The Huffington Post. Not to mention a shock to Newslaundry. The best journalists in the world don't come out of Doon school and St. Stephens College and JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia. To say nothing of Columbia University school of Journalism.

Here is the world's best journalist:

It's called money.

Suppose that you want to know how India's rice farmers are doing right now. Suppose you want to know how the laborers who sowed the rice, the laborers who harvested the crop, the farmers who sold the crop, the traders who bought the crop and the truckers who transported the crop and finally the grocers who put the rice on market shelves are doing.

You have two choices. You could go to a "journalist" who will pick one person from each category and ask the question that is the hallmark of airhead reporting today: "Aapko kaisa lag raha hai?". But keep in mind that this journalist could have an agenda. He or she could have been an Agustapatrakar. Even a Radia stenographer perhaps. Or maybe a Bhakt?

But there is a second, much better choice. You could simply go check the price.

The price is one single magical number that captures the situation of every single person in the supply chain. The best thing about prices is that they don't have an agenda. The price does not have a political affiliation. The price doesn't care if you are a Modi supporter or a Rahul Gandhi supporter. The price doesn't care if you are an illiterate person or you have an arts degree  from JNU.

Since Nov 8, we have all read fantastic stories of how all the agricultural Mandis are empty, of how trucks have gone off the road. We have heard about how farmers cannot harvest their crop nor sell their crop nor plant a new crop. Amazingly however, there is one stubborn fact. Prices aren't rising!

Apparently, no trader, no hoarder has noticed yet the opportunity of a lifetime. Hardly any crop got harvested, hardly any crop got sowed and hardly any crop got transported. The farms are empty, the trucks are empty, the Mandis are empty, but the markets are full. Amazing!

In fact, is there one item that people can name that has disappeared from the shelves since Nov 8? From tomatoes to journalists to intellectuals, the markets seem well stocked with stuff for sale as usual.

Those claiming "poor implementation" of demonetization should answer the question about why there are no price shocks happening anywhere? Do they understand what it takes to keep 1200 million people supplied with milk, grain and vegetables after sucking 86% of all currency out of the system? And yet, not a single price shock.

In fact, in the initial weeks, the "poor implementation" brigade was greedily looking forward to a collapse of the supply chain.

7 - Powerful Tips for Success in Life!

If you want success you have to follow following tips.

1. Begin your day the night before
Use a personal motivation notebook to plan and write down what you need to do the next workday. Just before you sleep, pick up motivation book and spend a few minutes reading it. Also write what positive three things has happened to you today.

2. Get to bed early
Remember that one-hour of sleep just before midnight is more valuable than one hour of sleep after midnight. Adjust your schedule so you can get to bed earlier. As you fall asleep, convince yourself that you will receive new insights to solve the problems.

3. Read your plan before getting out of bed
After you wake, lie down on your bed for a few minutes and think your today plan. And imagine how great it will be when things turn out exactly as you have previously imagined. As you get out of bed, you will notice that you feel self-motivated.

4. A good breakfast can make the difference between a good day and a bad one. So take a breakfast that has adequate protein. This helps you maintain a high energy level.

5. Listen to soul lifting music as you go to work
Use self-motivating music to set yourself in the right mood as you go to work. This type of music opens up your energy centres and promotes clear thinking

6. Commend yourself for achievements
throughout the day; make sure you keep yourself motivated by commending yourself. Tick down the tasks that you complete. And when you face any unexpected challenges, motivate yourself to face them.

7. Repeat steps 1 and 2 again
Just before going to bed at night, go over the day's tasks in your personal motivation book. Show appreciation for what you accomplished during the day. congratulate yourself : "I'm the most endowed and qualified person who accomplished these things." Then plan for the next day.

Remember that before you can plan your day successfully, you need to get rid of clutter and become more organized. So cut down on the time spent in front of the TV and take some time to clean up and reorganize your desk. And organize your office as well. you will notice a remarkable change in your personal motivation and achievement.

[www.keralites.net] Daily positive Thought!

True winning is accepting not resisting!

If you ever find yourself defending a position, explaining why, or justifying anything, it means you have been defeated. It means you have not been able to accept the others point of view, or the fact that you may be wrong.

Fear has conquered your mind and your heart. Your defenses are up and you are running scared. It's not that the other person has conquered you, it's the self-created fear that is in control.
Until you can accept the other (you don't have to agree) and you are not threatened by the other, your victories will be delayed. It's a funny old world when true winning is accepting not resisting, when victory is found in the wisdom to stop fighting and to begin engaging.

Practical Exercise On Intellect Reawakening And Empowerment

It has been estimated that for around 80% of our daily routine we are ruled by habits. This means that most of the time we go straight from thought (created by the mind) to action, without checking the quality of our thoughts. In this way, we bypass the intellect, and do not use our capacity to judge right from wrong and to make conscious decisions. What we need to do now is reawaken, use and empower the intellect, which is true spiritual empowerment.

Practical Exercise
Withdraw your attention from everything around you.  Create a simple thought in your mind.   Concentrate on the thought. Then use your intellect to judge to what extent the thought is right or wrong and what the quality of that thought is (is it a negative thought, a waste or unnecessary thought, a necessary thought, a positive one etc.?).   If you decide it is not a good thought, leave it and create a better thought. In this way, you consciously exercise control of your mind and intellect thereby strengthening your mental and intellectual capaci ties. This will also help you regain your feelings of rule over the self.

If thoughts or images come from your memories or from sources outside your own mind while you are busy in this inner exercise, don't give them any mental energy. Let them go and bring your attention back to your own conscious creation (mentioned above). Once, you have mastered this in this exercise; try the same process while you busy in your daily routine.

To help others discover their talents is the best help we can give.

Sometimes people are unaware of their talents, or afraid to use them. But if we do not use the gifts we have been given, we can never be truly happy. Throughout our lives, people help us grow.  As we grow older, we can help others too. Making others aware of the things they do well and subtly encouraging them to use their talents is the best way to help them progress.

Message for the day

To stand for what we believe in is not to fall before what we fear.

Though to Ponder: When fear takes over, I need to focus more on what I believe in, rather than focusing on what I fear. To think of what I don't want or what I want to avoid is not the solution. Rather, I need to focus my energies on what I want. When I do this, I will be able to avoid negativity and use my potential and energy for what needs to be done.

Point to Practice: Today I will think of one thing I have been avoiding. I will then see what I want to do in its place. If I don't want something, there would surely be something that I want. When I start working on what I should be doing, I will naturally be able to do away with what I fear or what I am avoiding.

Could this £5 blood test predict a heart attack 15 years early? Scientists say it could help doctors spot high-risk patients

By Ben Spencer Medical Correspondent For The Daily Mail

A simple blood test could identify patients at risk of having a heart attack 15 years in advance, British scientists have discovered.

The £5 test, which takes just 30 minutes to deliver a result, could help doctors spot patients who would benefit from drugs or lifestyle changes that could save their life.

Some 188,000 people have heart attacks in Britain each year, and nearly 70,000 die as a result.

Many of these cases are avoidable, with lifestyle factors - particularly drinking, smoking, diet and exercise - having an impact on roughly 85 per cent of cases.

Yet people tend not to take action until they start to suffer warning signs.

When heart muscle is damaged it leaks a protein called troponin in to the blood stream.

A blood test that detects troponin is already used in hospitals to quickly diagnose whether someone has had a heart attack.

But the new study, led by the universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, suggests it the troponin test can also be used to detect the early signs of damage years before someone actually has an attack.

The found the test is particularly good at precisely identifying people who will benefit from cholesterol-busting statins, averting their risk of major cardiovascular disease later in life.

It can also be used to assess how well statins are working - and help doctors find another treatment if the pills are ineffective.

In a trial of 3,000 men with high cholesterol but no history of heart disease, the team found high troponin levels accurately predicted the risk of a person suffering a heart attack up to 15 years later.

Those who tested positive for high troponin levels were 2.3 times more likely to have a heart attack, the researchers found.

But the results, published last night in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, also reinforced the use of statins as a treatment for heart disease.

The scientists found taking a statin pills quickly reduced troponin levels - with striking results.

Those whose troponin levels decreased by 25 per cent had a five-fold lower risk of heart attack.

The test could be used to move patients whose troponin levels did not drop on to a different type of statin, or a completely different type of cholesterol drug.

Study leader Professor Nicholas Mills of the University of Edinburgh, said: 'These results are tremendously exciting, and could revolutionise the way we manage patients at risk of coronary heart disease.

'Troponin testing will help doctors to identify apparently healthy individuals who have silent heart disease so we can target preventative treatments to those who are likely to benefit most.'

He said more studies are needed - particularly because the trial was only conducted on middle-aged men, with no women included.

But if the results are replicated the test could quickly be rolled out for use by GPs.

Professor Sir Nilesh Samani, medical director at the British Heart Foundation, which funded the study, said: 'The use of troponin tests to determine whether or not a person has had a heart attack when they first arrive at hospital is now firmly established in clinical practice.

'Now, the hope from this new research is that we may be able to use this simple test earlier on to identify people at higher risk of suffering from a heart attack.

'Those found to be at higher risk could have their preventative treatments intensified.

'Before the findings from this research can be clinically applied, the usefulness of measuring troponin findings need to be demonstrated in a wider group of patients.

'If this confirms its value, the test could easily be administered by GPs during standard check-ups, and could ultimately save lives.'
