[www.keralites.net] Rules for happy life

Rules for happy life!

·  Do Not Interfere In Others Business Unless Asked : Most of us create our own problems by interfering too often in others affairs. We think that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect logic. No two human beings can think or act in exactly the same way. Mind your own business and you will keep your peace.

·  Forgive And Forget : This is the most powerful aid to peace of mind. We often develop ill feelings inside our heart for the person who insults us or harms us. This insult or injury was done once, but that feelings goes on forever by constantly remembering it. Get over this bad habit. Life is too short to waste in such trifles. Forgive, Forget, and march on. Love flourishes in giving and forgiving.

·  Do Not Crave For Recognition : This world is full of selfish people. They seldom praise anybody without selfish motives. They may praise you today because you are in power, but no sooner than you are powerless; they will forget your achievement and will start finding faults in you. This people recognition is not worth. Do your duties ethically and sincerely.

·  Do Not Be Jealous : Jealousy can disturb our peace of mind. Somebody got promotions; you do not. You are not as successful as your neighbor business. There are several examples like these in everyday life. Should you be jealous? No. If you are destined to be rich, nothing in the world can stop you. Nothing will be gained by blaming others for your misfortune. Jealousy will not get you anywhere; it will only take away your peace of mind.

·  Change Yourself According To The Environment : Do not change the environment, the chances are you will fail. Instead, change yourself to suit your environment. As you do this, even the environment, which has been unfriendly to you, will become harmonious.

·  Accept What Cannot Be Cured : Every day we have numerous inconveniences, ailments, irritations, and accidents that are beyond our control.. We must learn to accept them. Believe in yourself and you will patience, inner strength and will power.

·  Do Not Bite Off More Than You Can Chew : We often tend to take more responsibilities than we are capable of carrying out. This is done to satisfy our ego. Know your limitations. . You cannot gain peace of mind by expanding your external activities. This will reduce thoughts in your mind that is restless. Clearing mind will produce greater peace.

·  Practice Relaxation - Mindfulness : Relaxation - Mindfulness, calms the mind and gets rid of disturbing thoughts. This is the highest state of peace of mind. for half an hour every day, your mind will tend to become peaceful during the remaining twenty-three and half-hours. this will increase your efficiency and you will be able to produce better results in less time.

·  Never Leave The Mind Vacant : An empty mind is the devil's workshop. Actively follow a hobby. Do something that holds your interest. Your hobby may not always earn you money, but you will have a sense of fulfillment and achievement.

·  Do Not Procrastinate And Never Regret : Do not waste time in - Should I or shouldn't I? Days, weeks, months, and years may be wasted in that thinking. Value your time and do the things that need to be done. You can learn from your mistakes and succeed the next time. Learn from your mistakes. DO NOT REGRET. Whatever happened was destined to happen only that way.

[www.keralites.net] Fwd: Scientific!

Scientific!

Today to be recognized as sane one has to be scientific in everything. To be scientific one must be unbiased. To be unbiased one must be a spectator of the Universe and never be part of the Universe. One must detach oneself from the ever changing space-time continuum. One must lead a life analyzing and analyzing only and almost stop experiencing. Because when one experiences, one has to stop analyzing. One cannot do both at the same time—experiencing and analyzing. To achieve the ultimate in the scientific outlook, one must find some place outside the Universe to observe and tamper, while enjoying all the advantages and suffering all the disadvantages of the space-time continuum. This has been achieved by surrendering the faculties of observation and perception to machines. We employ more and more and more technology at the expense of Ecology, Zoology, and Biology in fact, every Ology. For that we have very conveniently assumed that everything is only a machine, not different from the scooter to which one has surrendered the faculty of walking and running. We no longer experience nature, in fact we are busy removing it in the interests of elegant mathematical equations. Nature today is our enemy. But to evade this fact from our attention, we have coined a word that conceals—development which simply means destroying forests, lakes etc to establish factories. We eliminate the habitat of every organism, in fact we drone bomb the tribes, to exploit the minerals, oil etc. There is only one motto called profit, which means escaping from expenses by shifting them to the society or environment and milking from the society and environment every benefit. The first is called cost reduction and the second is called marketing. To create markets and markets and markets we have filled the people with a chronic dissatisfaction with nature and a frenzy of greed. And we handed over what we call the economic life to the most uncertain and neurosis trigger called money. I have been writing about the injustice of including the fake income into the taxable income, but being the patients of neurotic uncertainty and the chronic acceptance of injustice, none responds because none want to stir the monster the income tax.

THE MAIN PROBLEM IS IN A MONEY ECONOMY SAVING FOR THE FUTURE IS IMPOSSIBLE.MONEY LOSES VALUE CONTINUOUSLY; IT IS CALLED INFLATION, WHICH CAN BE REDUCED ONLY BY DESTROYING MORE AND MORE NATURE.

We have created the dismalest science called economics, which today is gymnastics in mathematical equations with human being eliminated as the subject matter, where the cost curve, demand curve, supply curve, indifference curve etc dance and the mathematical reconciliation of these dance movements creates what are called the decisions of management. The human beings lost address.

Today the hysteria of...,I am not able to find a word is resulting in the devising of more and more destructive weapons, creating conflicts among the ever changing enemy nations, which nation is a friend or enemy of which nation is very uncertain.

Let us compare this to the days of faith or non-science or the Holistic Living. An individual gave what he could to the society and society in return gave him identity, love, needs, sense of belonging and membership in the dances and songs of rapture. Nature was not a resource but a God. Nature or God was adored and that adoration was the most important thing. It was economic theism, where economies functioned on the basis of faith in God and where barter was dominant. Life was no uncertain, the lord, the priest...representing God gave security. Barter system without Theism was/is impossible. People were totally attached and completely biased to God and nature.

[www.keralites.net] Fwd: Pollution is killing your sense of smell

Pollution is killing your sense of smell!

Daily Mirror

And, a disrupted sense of smell puts you at higher risk of depression and anxiety

Modern life is killing our sense of smell, a top scientist has warned. Traffic pollution, uncollected rubbish, and messy homes are all having a harmful effect on the nose, Dr Kara Hoover, an expert in olfactory evolution, announced at the world's biggest science conference which was held in Boston.

"Our sense of smell evolved in a very rich landscape in which we were interacting regularly with the environment," she said. "Today we're not interacting with the environment and pollution is disrupting our sense of smell. That puts you at greater risk for things like mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety, and it also puts you at greater risk for physical health problems such as obesity and social health problems like not being able to pick up on social cues from other human beings."

She explained: "People who have suffered from a loss of smell have increased anxiety over their own body odour because they don't know if they smell bad or not. They're anxious about not being able to smell danger like gas leaks or smoke. They suffer from poor quality of life and depression because they're no longer engaging with food or even with loved ones in terms of their sense of smell."

Studies had also shown a link between smell loss and obesity. Dr Hoover said: "If you have an impaired sense of smell you're getting sated more from taste and seeking richer tastes -salty and fatty food." One study of adults with a very strong sense of smell found that they tended to have low body weight.

People from more disadvantaged backgrounds are more at risk because of their greater exposure to pollution, Dr Hoover believes. Bus passengers were eight times more exposed to traffic pollution than car drivers.Similarly, people forced to live in dirty and polluted areas, or whose rubbish was not collected regularly, were likely to suffer more smell impairment.

Dr Hoover has conducted new research comparing the smelling ability of Homo sapiens and two now-extinct human subspecies: Neanderthals and Denisovans. She discovered that the Denisovans had a "less functional" sense of smell compared with early modern humans and Neanderthals. "Our sense of smell seems to be very similar to Neanderthals'. They couldn't smell grass, so this suggests that they had a different adaptation," said Dr Hoover.

[www.keralites.net] Fwd: Modi’s ‘rainbow coalition’: lessons from the state polls

Modi's 'rainbow coalition': lessons from the state polls

MARKAND PARANJAPE

As I write this, with bated breath, the whole country awaits the outcome of the UP elections. The various exit polls, despite varying numbers, show a common trend: outright victory in UP and Uttarakhand for the BJP, significant chances in Goa and Manipur, with Punjab a close call between Congress and AAP. Political pundits, in the meanwhile, are busy analysing the implications of the various possible outcomes. By the time this column appears, however, the suspense will be well-nigh over; as the day progresses, the final tallies will be evident. Exit polls have been known, especially in India, to be off the mark. It would be therefore foolish to comment on what is as yet uncertain or unknown. But in terms of lessons in leadership, what might we glean from the hustings?

The term, 'rainbow coalition', used variously to describe ANC's inclusive push for power under Nelson Mandela or Rev Jesse James's first African-American bid for power in the US, is now being applied by English anchors in India to PM Modi's impending victorious sweep: even his worst detractors seem to be admitting that Modi's "rainbow coalition" is a big hit in UP.

If analysed carefully, such an alliance is only the positive rejig of earlier negative, minoritarian coalitions brokered by the Congress. The major difference is that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have succeeded in uniting a broad spectrum of Hindu communities across complicated and contentious caste lines by their magic 'vikas mantra', making it the watchword of economic and social progress in India. This mantra is also accompanied by Bharatiya asmita and gaurav, the euphoria of making India proud again.

Clearly, the vikas mantra has out-powered other shibboleths such as social justice or minority appeasement. While the Congress culture, inherited from our colonial masters, seemed to be divide and rule, the BJP's is unite to rule. If the logic of this consolidation is to be followed one step farther, it is only a matter of time before larger and larger sections of Muslims will join such a coalition rather than opting for special, most often inconsequential, 'minority' privileges offered by earlier regimes.

Modi's rainbow collation, in other words, has room for further expansion and inclusion as it delivers more and more on its fundamental promise, which is sab ka saath, sab ka vikas.

These elections, if they go in favour of the BJP, also show how indispensable party organisation and discipline are. Professional campaign management must compliment the magnetism of outstanding leaders for real electoral gains to accrue.

We cannot underestimate the charisma and credibility of the man himself: Narendra Modi is a national icon today. It is his assurance and larger-than-life persona that underwrites such mantras of progress, rather than some magic wand being waved over the heads of the gullible masses. However, no one can be fooled forever by empty promises. The ruling party's sincerity and success in making good on its promises, in offering a low-corruption high-efficiency model of governance, makes all the difference. That is why demonetization, despite enormous hardships to common people and uncertain long-term economic gains, worked. It was a gesture towards cleansing the system, which the public appreciated.

But following such spectacular success, the point of the Prime Minister's personal prowess cannot be underlined again and again. The cache of goodwill should not be squandered, but used for more meaningful and transformative reforms.

A second line of leadership must be fostered at the state level after establishing clear parameters of competence and accountability. A great party is made up of large cohorts and promising leaders, not one single strong man, looming large over all others. Indeed, the latter is the defining characteristic of both totalitarian and authoritarian systems, not of democracies. The BJP must actively foster leadership at all levels; after all, most elections are fought on local issues. Clearly identified local leaders, even a Chief Ministerial candidate, with a clean image and record of service can only help at the hustings.

The Congress is a party in a self-destruct mode. Failure after failure dogs its steps as it finds itself rendered more and more irrelevant in both national and state politics. Why is this happening?

Again, the finger of suspicion points to the crisis in leadership. Everywhere in the country we see how single-leader parties or parties controlled by single families gradually break up or fail.

In UP too, it was the family feud, whether staged or real, of the Mulayam Singh clan of Yadavas, that brought about their downfall in the eyes of the people. In Punjab, similarly, the Badal family, with its endless appetite for centralising power and pelf has led to the undoing of the Akalis.

With Didi in Bengal, not to speak of Behenji in UP, the late Amma in Tamil Nadu, or Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, enjoyed the people's support, it was because they were perceived as being single, without a family or dynasty who would continue to monopolise the spoils of office. A state or nation belongs to its entire people, not to one family or dynasty. That is the clear message from the elections. If you do not believe in broad-basing leadership and sharing the profits of power, people are likely to reject you.

Last but not the least, these elections mark a definite shift in media attitudes, especially the elite, English channels. From outright opposition to derisive condescension, the English media now stands sheepishly corrected, if not on its way to being fully converted. There is sometimes open, sometimes grudging admiration not only for PM Modi, the nation's political superman, but for his party. They must be doing something right to win election after election. As to their ideology, ah well — the less said the better, but who knows, the secularists may change on this score as well. Nothing succeeds, we know, as success.
