Indians have taken to mobile phones like a fish to water. And while you'll find people sporting two and even three phones on them, mobile etiquette is something which still remains elusive. While some phone habits drive you up the wall, others simply make you groan and turn on your ignore mode. But, hey, if you do any of these, you know it's time to change!
1. Playing Candy-Crush everywhere.
Over crowded trains, buses, or walking on the footpath, Candy Crush is the Indian's best friend, not dog.
2. Playing Bollywood music in crowded places.
It's really, really irritating to come across someone blaring 'Chikni Chameli' at 7 AM in the bus or train at full volume. Heard of headphones?
3. Taking selfies.
There's a time and place for everything. And a crowded street is the place for accidents. NOT selfies.
4. Chatting while walking.
While it is ok to talk on the phone while walking, chatting or WhatsApping makes you slow and susceptible to people bumps.
5. Garish ringtones.
While your ringtone might be your favourite bhajan or ringtone from the 70s, you're not the only one hearing it. Keep some good or soothing music as your ringtone so you don't disturb all those around you.
6. Screaming when there's no network.
Hello? Hello? HELLO?! H.E.L.L.O?!
7. Talking while in the loo.
This is the grossest thing you can do. EVER.
8. Talking loudly when there's a long-distance call.
Classics Are Dead
Your voice won't carry to the UK or the USA or Australia. It only carries to your next-door neighbour. And they don't want to hear any of it.
9. Asking 'who's this?'
One Knight Stands
This is one weird habit we can't seem to shake off. When you get a call from an unknown number, instead of the person identifying himself/herself, how many times have they asked you, "Aap kaun? Kiska number hai?" Extremely ridiculous!
10. Charger woes.
Indians have somehow not adapted to the portable charger or carrying their charging cords when at friends' places or in office. And the old phone habit of having a different charger for each phone is so ingrained in us that the minute someone asks us for a charger, we first ask "Kaunsa?" or which brand. Gahh!
