Hyderabad: Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin's son, Ayazuddin, has been hospitalized after suffering serious injuries in a motorcycle accident in Hyderabad today. His friend, Ajmal-ur-Rehman, 16, was riding on the same bike and died from head injuries. According to CNN-IBN, Ayazuddin has been admitted to the city's Apollo Hospital. The 18-year-old has received head injuries in the mishap. Azharuddin, who is a Congress leader and a member of the Lok Sabha, is reportedly on his way back to Hyderabad from London. Ayazuddin is the younger of Azharuddin's two sons from his former wife, Naureen. Both he and Asaduddin, the elder son, are cricketers. Ayazuddin was racing his imported 1000 cc Suzuki motorcycle, according to the Indian Express. "The helmet that Aiyazuddin was probably wearing was totally crushed. Tire marks at the accident spot indicate that the bike skidded and hit the road divider at a very high speed," a police official. Chief Surgeon Dr Mahesh Joshi said th boys were wheeled in to the hospital at 9 am and had no pulse. "They had both gone into a state of cardiac arrest. In spite of our best efforts we could not revive Ajmal. Aiyazuddin has suffered serious injuries on his head, chest and abdomen and is at present undergoing surgery," Joshi said.
