Collectively these compounds help the pancreatic beta cells (cells that store and release insulin) to function properly and increase sensitivity to insulin. An added advantage is that the antioxidants present in the leaves help beat the ill effects of oxidative stress.
Tip: Consume two to three tulsi leaves whole or about one tablespoon full of its juice on an empty stomach to lower the blood sugar levels.
#2 Flax seeds (Alsi)
Due to their high fibre content flaxseeds help digestion and aid in the proper absorption of fats and sugars. Consuming flax seed helps reduce a diabetic's postprandial sugar level by almost 28 per cent.
Tip: Consume one tablespoon of ground flaxseed powder every morning on an empty stomach with a glass of warm water. However, do not have more than 2 tablespoons per day, as it can be detrimental to your health.
#3 Leaves of bilberry (neelabadari) plant
The leaves of bilberry have been used in Ayurveda for many centuries to control diabetes. Recently, the Journal of Nutrition stated that the leaves of the Bilberry plant contain high amounts of anthocyanidin, which enhance the action of various proteins involved in glucose transportation and fat metabolism. Due to this unique property, bilberry leaves are a great way to lower one's blood sugar levels.
Tip: Crush bilberry leaves in a mortar and pestle and consume 100 milligrams of this extract everyday on an empty stomach.
#4 Cinnamon (dalchini)
Also known as dalchini, it improves insulin sensitivity and lower blood glucose levels. Having as little as ½ teaspoon of cinnamon per day can improve one's insulin sensitivity and help controlling weight, thereby decreasing one's risk for heart disease.

Also known as psyllium husk is often used as a laxative. When isabgol comes in contact with water, it swells to form a gel-like substance. This slows the breakdown and absorption of blood glucose. Isabgol also protects the stomach lining from ulcers and acidity.

I had a thought yesterday that made me very sad.
I'll never know you as an old woman.
My job as a mother is not to teach you to be an amazing kid, but to teach you to be an extraordinary adult. I want to guide you so that when you are an old woman, you will look back on your life and feel that it was well lived.
These are the things I wish for you when you become an old woman:
When your hair turns silver and your skin turns a bit sallow, I hope that your eyes shine as brightly as they do today. (tweet this)

I hope you dance...even if it's slowly.
I hope the world is good and that kind people surround you.
I hope you have a companion, be it a partner, a child or a friend.

 Migraine is a chronic neurological disorder manifesting in the form
of a throbbing head ache with nausea, vomiting, and/or sensitivity
to light. If you or your loved one suffer from migraine, I have
compiled some remedies which you can try safely. Know that quick
treatment of migraine is a wise thing to do.
# Identify your triggers and avoid them. Sometimes it can just be
the weather, a drug or any food like , caffeine or chocolates.
# Do not depend on pain killers and have them for more than thrice
a week.
# Avoid white flour products, sugar, tinned or preserved foods.
Drink more water and eat more fibre, vegetables, whole grains, and
get vegetable proteins like beans, nuts, seeds, broccoli, spinach,
peas etc.
# Sit and stand in proper postures.
# Do not skip meals.
# Exercise but do not overdo it.
# Sleep and wake up at proper timings.
# Keep a headache diary which will help you to find your triggers
and help the doctor to choose his treatment plan.
# When you get a bad headache, lie down in a dark, quiet room. Put
a cold or hot compress on your forehead with a few drops of
lavender oil (if you are not allergic to its scent) in it. Massage
your scalp and apply pressure on your temples.
# Have chamomile tea.
# Start meditation and yoga. Pranayama including Shitali works the
best for migraine. You may also visit a therapist or a counselor
for stress management. Also, ask your doctor about cognitive
behavioral therapy.
# Make a habit of massaging your temples, neck and head when you
get a headache.
# Use peppermint oil to rub on your temples and on the tight
muscles on your neck and shoulders.
# Have carrot juice with spinach.
# Ask your doctor about having Riboflavin, magnesium and Coenzyme
Q10 for prevention.
# Try Gingko Biloba extracts with the consent of your doctor. With
its antioxidants Gingko Biloba dilate blood vessels and improve
circulation throughout the body especially in the brain.
