Kebab Massalam "Tasty, spicy Indian-style ground lamb kebabs. Excellent served over basmati rice." Ingredients 1 pound ground lamb 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 green Thai chili peppers, finely chopped 1 onion, chopped 2 tablespoons coriander seeds, crushed 2 tablespoons plain yogurt 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon salt 5 (6 inch) bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 20 minutes 2 red bell peppers, seeded and cut into 2-inch pieces Directions Preheat the oven's broiler and set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source. Lightly grease a broiling pan. Mix together the lamb, garlic, chili peppers, onion, coriander, yogurt, turmeric, lemon juice, and salt with your hands until well mixed. Roll the mixture into 15 meatballs. Thread 3 meatballs onto each skewer, separating with chunks of red bell pepper. Place onto the prepared broiling pan. Broil for 5 minutes, then turn the skewers over, and continue broiling until no longer pink in the center, about 5 minutes more. Imaam Abul Ala Hasan ibn Ahmad al-Hamazani, a great scholar of Hadith of his time, was so keen on applying this Sunnah to the extent that if someone entered his house with their left foot first, he would ask them to go out and re-enter with their right foot first. He was so much respected that the Sultan of the day would visit him at school and sit in front of him as a student. At one occasion, he told the Sultan to exit with his right foot first and walk on the right side of the road. When entering or leaving a house, do not push the door violently, or slam it shut, or leave it to close by itself wildly. Such actions stand in contrast to the gracefulness of Islam to which you are honoured to belong. Close the door quietly with your hand. You may have heard a Hadith reported by Imam Muslimwhereby 'Aisha (RA) quotes the Prophet: 'Gentleness adorns every act. Its absence will tarnish it.' 2.2 ENTERING WHILE OTHERS ARE ASLEEP If you enter a place where people are sleeping, whether during day or night, be quiet and gentle. Be considerate. Do not cause any undue noise when entering or exiting. You have heard the saying of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم): 'Whoever is deprived of gentleness, is deprived of all sorts of goodness.' Muslim and Al-Tirmidhi reported that the honourable companion Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad (RA) said: 'We used to preserve the Prophet's share of the milk, when he came back at night he would greet us with a voice loud enough for those awake to hear, without disturbing those who were asleep.' In addition, whenever the Prophet used to pray at night, he would recite the Quran with a voice that pleased those that were awake, without disturbing those that were asleep.' മലയാള മാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെ ഭ്രമകല്പനകള്‍

• മാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെ കൃത്രിമമായ വാര്‍ത്താനിര്‍മിതി ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഒരു രഹസ്യമല്ല. ഇറാഖില്‍ അമേരിക്കയും യൂറോപ്പും നടത്തിയ അധിനിവേശത്തെ സംബന്ധിച്ച ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് പാര്‍ലമെന്ററി സമിതി അന്വേഷണം നടത്തുകയുണ്ടായി. സമിതി അന്നത്തെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ടോണി ബ്ലയറെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി തെളിവ് എടുത്തിരുന്നു. അന്ന് ഇറാഖിലേക്ക് പറന്നിറങ്ങാന്‍ അമേരിക്ക ഉയര്‍ത്തിയ വാദമുഖം സദ്ദാം ഹുസൈന്റെ അധീനതയില്‍ വന്‍ രാസായുധശേഖരം ഉണ്ട് എന്നതായിരുന്നു. ലക്കും ലഗാനുമില്ലാത്ത ഒരു ഏകാധിപതിയുടെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലുള്ള രാസായുധശേഖരം ലോകജനതയെ ഉന്മൂലനം ചെയ്യാന്‍ പര്യാപ്തമാണ് എന്ന് അമേരിക്ക ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്രസഭയില്‍ വാദിച്ചു.

• എന്നാല്‍, ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് പാര്‍ലമെന്റ് നടത്തിയ അന്വേഷണത്തില്‍ ഇറാഖിന്റെ രാസായുധശേഖരത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ഒരു തെളിവും അമേരിക്കയ്ക്കോ ബ്രിട്ടനോ ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല എന്ന് വ്യക്തമായി. ഇല്ലാത്ത രാസായുധശേഖരം സംബന്ധിച്ച പ്രചാരണമാണ്് ഇറാഖിനെ ആക്രമിക്കാന്‍ അമേരിക്ക ആയുധമാക്കിയത്. ഇത്തരം വാര്‍ത്താനിര്‍മാണം എല്ലാ പ്രവൃത്തികളിലും കാണാം.

• മാധ്യമങ്ങളെ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് വാര്‍ത്താവിഭ്രാന്തി സൃഷ്ടിച്ച് അക്രമം നടത്തുന്ന രീതി അമേരിക്കയ്ക്ക് പുത്തരിയല്ല. തീവ്രവാദം അമര്‍ച്ചചെയ്യാന്‍ എന്ന പേരില്‍ പറന്നിറങ്ങിയ അവസാന അമേരിക്കക്കാരനും തിരിച്ചുപോയെങ്കിലും ഇറാഖില്‍ സാമൂഹ്യവിരുദ്ധരുടെയും തീവ്രവാദികളുടെയും അഴിഞ്ഞാട്ടമാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ നടക്കുന്നത്.

  മഹത്തായ സാംസ്കാരിക പാരമ്പര്യമുള്ള ഒരു രാജ്യം പൂര്‍ണമായും തകര്‍ന്നുതരിപ്പണമായി. ആ നാടിനെ ആധുനികതയിലേക്ക് നയിച്ച രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാവിനെ പരസ്യമായി തൂക്കിക്കൊന്നു. തിരുത്താന്‍ കഴിയാത്ത വലിയ പാതകങ്ങളാണ് ഇറാഖിനോട് അമേരിക്ക കാട്ടിയത് എന്ന് ഇന്ന് നാം തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നുണ്ട്. പക്ഷേ അപ്പോഴേക്കും ആ രാജ്യംതന്നെ തകര്‍ന്നടിഞ്ഞുപോയി. വാര്‍ത്തകള്‍ക്ക് സൃഷ്ടിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന വിഭ്രാത്മകതയുടെ നല്ല ഉദാഹരണമാണ് ഇറാഖ്.

• കേരളത്തിലെ മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തനരംഗത്തും ഇത്തരം മറിമായങ്ങള്‍ ധാരാളം കാണാനാവും. അതിന്റെ ഒരു ഉദാഹരണമാണ് ഐഎസ്ആര്‍ഒ ചാരക്കേസ്. ആ കേസുമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ച് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ ധാരാളം വാര്‍ത്തകള്‍ പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. ആ കഥകളില്‍ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരും സാങ്കേതികവിദഗ്ധരും പൊലീസും മാലിദ്വീപുകാരായ സ്ത്രീകളും കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളായി വന്നു. സംഭ്രമജനകമായ അപസര്‍പ്പകകഥയുടെ എല്ലാ ചേരുവകളും ആ കേസില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. രാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ മറ്റു രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ ചാരപ്പണി നടത്തുന്നത് സ്വാഭാവിക പ്രവൃത്തിയാണ്. അതിനുവേണ്ടി പണം മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. എങ്കിലും മേല്‍ച്ചൊന്ന ചാരക്കേസിന്റെ കഥ എല്ലാ സീമകളും ലംഘിക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു. ഒരോ മാധ്യമവും മത്സരിച്ച് അവരുടെ കല്പനാവിലാസം വായനക്കാര്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കിയപ്പോള്‍ ഐഎസ്ആര്‍ഒ എന്ന സ്ഥാപനം ചാരവൃത്തിയുടെ കേന്ദ്രമായും ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞര്‍ ചാരപ്പണി ചെയ്യുന്നവരായും മാറി. ഒരു മാസത്തിനുശേഷം മൂവായിരം പേജുവരുന്ന ചാര്‍ജ്ഷീറ്റ് തയ്യാറാക്കപ്പെട്ടെങ്കിലും പൊടുന്നനെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഓഫീസ് ഇടപെട്ട് കേസ് പിന്‍വലിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അതുവരെ പറഞ്ഞതും എഴുതിക്കൂട്ടിയതുമെല്ലാം പാഴ്വാക്കുകളായി. കുറ്റാരോപിതരായ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞര്‍ക്ക് പില്‍ക്കാലത്ത് നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നല്‍കേണ്ടി വരികയും ചെയ്തു. വാര്‍ത്ത പൊലിപ്പിച്ച്, ജ്വലിപ്പിച്ച് നിര്‍ത്തിയ മാധ്യമങ്ങളൊന്നും ആത്മവിമര്‍ശനം നടത്താന്‍ തുനിഞ്ഞുമില്ല.

  ചാരക്കേസിനുശേഷം അതുപോലെ മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ പൊലിപ്പിച്ച സംഭവമായിരുന്നു മുത്തൂറ്റ് പോള്‍ വധക്കേസ്. ആലപ്പുഴയില്‍ നടന്ന ആ വധത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് വലിയ വലിയ വാര്‍ത്താപ്രവാഹങ്ങള്‍ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടായി. യാദൃച്ഛികമായി സംഭവിച്ച ഒരു കൊലപാതകത്തെ വലിയ ഗൂഢാലോചനയുടെ പരിണിതിയായാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത്. അക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ പൊലീസുകാര്‍ മനപൂര്‍വം എന്തോ മറച്ചുവയ്ക്കുന്നു എന്ന പ്രചാരണമാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിയത്. അന്ന് ഏറെ പരാമര്‍ശിക്കപ്പെട്ട ആയുധമായിരുന്നു "എസ്" കത്തി. അത്തരമൊരു കത്തി പൊലീസ് കൃത്രിമമായി സൃഷ്ടിച്ചതാണ് എന്ന ആക്ഷേപം പ്രബലമായിരുന്നു. ചുരുക്കത്തില്‍ ആ കൊലപാതകത്തിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യം, അത് നടത്തിയവര്‍, ഉപയോഗിച്ച ആയുധം എല്ലാം അയഥാര്‍ഥമാണ് എന്നരീതിയിലാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചത്. അന്വേഷണം ഒരു ഘട്ടത്തില്‍ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ അത് വിശദീകരിക്കാന്‍ പൊലീസ് ഓഫീസറായ വിന്‍സന്‍ എം പോള്‍ പത്രക്കാരെ കാണുകയുണ്ടായി. ആ പത്രസമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ മാധ്യമപ്രതിനിധികള്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരമാവധി ക്രൂശിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അതുവഴി അന്വേഷണത്തെ സംബന്ധിച്ച സംശയം വന്‍തോതില്‍ പ്രചരിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് സിബിഐയ്ക്ക് കേസ് വിട്ടു. എന്നാല്‍ സിബിഐയുടെ അന്വേഷണത്തില്‍ കേരളപൊലീസ് കണ്ടെത്തിയ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കപ്പുറം ഒന്നും കണ്ടെത്താനായില്ല. ഇക്കാര്യത്തിലും മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഗൗരവതരമായ പിശകാണ് പറ്റിയത്. എന്നിട്ടും മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ ആത്മപരിശോധന നടത്തുകയോ തെറ്റ് ഏറ്റുപറയുകയോ ഉണ്ടായില്ല.

• മാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെ ഈ സമീപനം ഏറ്റവും നന്നായി പ്രതിഫലിക്കുന്ന സംഭവമാണ് ടി പി ചന്ദ്രശേഖരന്‍ വധക്കേസ്. ചന്ദ്രശേഖരനെ വധിച്ചത് ആരും അംഗീകരിക്കുന്ന കാര്യമല്ല. അങ്ങേയറ്റം തെറ്റായ നടപടി എന്നാണ് എല്ലാ പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളും വിലയിരുത്തിയത്. സിപിഐ എം വിട്ട് പ്രാദേശിക പാര്‍ടി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ആള്‍ എന്ന നിലയ്ക്ക് ചന്ദ്രശേഖരനോട് സിപിഐ എമ്മിന് എതിര്‍പ്പുണ്ട്. അതിനാല്‍ കൊലനടത്തിയത് സിപിഐ എം തന്നെ എന്നാക്ഷേപിക്കുക സ്വഭാവികം. അത് സംഭവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാല്‍ സിപിഐ എമ്മിന്റെ കേന്ദ്ര- സംസ്ഥാന നേതൃത്വങ്ങള്‍ ഈ ആരോപണം നിഷേധിച്ചശേഷവും അത് സത്യമല്ല എന്ന പ്രചാരണമാണ് മിക്കവാറും മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിയത്.

  ഒരു കൊലക്കേസിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തില്‍ ഇത്തരം മുന്‍ധാരണകള്‍ രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നത് അന്വേഷണത്തെ തകിടംമറിക്കാം എന്നിരിക്കെ ബോധപൂര്‍വമുള്ള പ്രചാരണത്തിനാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ തുനിഞ്ഞത്. ക്വട്ടേഷന്‍ സംഘമാണ് വധം നടപ്പാക്കിയത് എന്ന് ആദ്യഘട്ടത്തില്‍ പൊലീസ് കണ്ടെത്തിയെങ്കിലും തുടര്‍ന്ന് സിപിഐ എമ്മിന്റെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ തന്നെ ഇതില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന തെറ്റായ വിവരം പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചു. പ്രതിയോഗികളെ കൊല്ലുക പാര്‍ടിയുടെ പരിപാടിയല്ലെന്നും പൂര്‍വവൈരാഗ്യം കാരണം ഏതെങ്കിലും പാര്‍ടി പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ ഇതില്‍ ഇടപെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ അവര്‍ക്കെതിരെ കര്‍ശനടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കുമെന്നും സിപിഐ എം സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.

• എന്നിട്ടും പാര്‍ടിക്കു നേരെയുള്ള വിമര്‍ശനം മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ തുടര്‍ന്നുകൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു. പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ട പാര്‍ടിക്കാര്‍ കുറ്റം സമ്മതിച്ചുവെന്നും അതുവഴി പാര്‍ടിതന്നെയാണ് ഇതിനുത്തരവാദി എന്നുള്ള പ്രചാരണവും ഉണ്ടായി. അന്വേഷണസമയത്ത് ആധികാരികമായ ഒരു വിവരവും ലഭിക്കില്ല എന്നിരിക്കെ ആധികാരികം എന്ന ഭാവത്തിലാണ് മിക്ക മാധ്യമങ്ങളും സാങ്കല്‍പിക കഥ പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചത്. അത് അന്വേഷണത്തെ സാരമായി ബാധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഈ കേസില്‍ മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിയ പ്രചാരണം മലയാളികളെ അങ്ങേയറ്റം വഴിതെറ്റിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നായി മാറികഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. സത്യവും പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വാര്‍ത്തകളും തമ്മില്‍ ഒരു ബന്ധവും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുമ്പോഴും പഴയ രീതിയിലുള്ള പ്രചാരണം തന്നെയാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ തുടര്‍ന്നത്.

• കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രബലമായ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാര്‍ടി ഏതാണ് എന്ന കാര്യത്തില്‍ ആര്‍ക്കും സംശയമുണ്ടാവില്ല. ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് മത്സരിച്ച് സീറ്റ് ലഭിക്കാവുന്ന രണ്ട് പ്രമുഖ പാര്‍ടികള്‍ സിപിഐ എമ്മും കോണ്‍ഗ്രസുമാണ് എന്ന് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് നേതാവ് ആര്യാടന്‍ മുഹമ്മദ് തന്നെ സമ്മതിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്സിനെക്കാള്‍ ജനകീയത കേരളത്തില്‍ സിപിഐ എമ്മിന് അവകാശപ്പെടാവുന്നതുമാണ്. ഇതരസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി ഏറ്റവുമധികം ജനാധിപത്യപരമായ വികാസം കൈവരിച്ച സംസ്ഥാനമാണ് നമ്മുടേത്. അത്തരമൊരു പ്രദേശത്ത് അധിവസിക്കുന്ന ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുകയും തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളില്‍ വിജയം നേടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പാര്‍ടിയെ കൊലപാതകികളുടെ പാര്‍ടി എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ മലയാളികളെ തന്നെയാണ് കൊലപാതകികളായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് എന്നതാണ് സത്യം.

• മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ ഇവ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അതിനുപൂരകമായി ഇലക്ട്രോണിക് മാധ്യമത്തില്‍ മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്റെ ഒരു നിരീക്ഷണവും രൂപംകൊള്ളുകയുണ്ടായി. സ്വന്തം ബ്ലോഗില്‍ അദ്ദേഹം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ അഭിപ്രായമാണ് ഇതിന് ആധാരം. തനിക്ക് അമ്പത്തിയൊന്ന് വയസ്സ് തികയുകയാണെന്നും അതിനൊപ്പമാണ് അമ്പത്തിയൊന്ന് വെട്ട് മുഖത്തേറ്റ് ചന്ദ്രശേഖരന്‍ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടത് എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. തീര്‍ന്നില്ല, ഈ രാഷ്ട്രീയപശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ പുറത്തിറങ്ങി സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത് ഭീതിജനകമായ കാര്യമായി മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം വിലപിച്ചു. ഒരു ബ്ലോഗിലെ കുറിപ്പ് എന്നനിലയ്ക്ക് അതിന് വലിയ പ്രചാരം കിട്ടാന്‍ സാധ്യതയില്ല എന്നാല്‍ അത് പുറത്തുവന്ന ദിവസംതന്നെ എല്ലാ ദൃശ്യമാധ്യമചാനലുകളും ഈ മഹാനടന്റെ ചിത്രമടക്കം ഈ ബ്ലോഗ് വാര്‍ത്ത അനുനിമിഷം പ്രസിദ്ധം ചെയ്തു. അടുത്ത ദിവസം എല്ലാ പത്രങ്ങളും അത് വളരെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ അച്ചടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അതുവഴി ഒരു ചെറിയ ബ്ലോഗ് കുറിപ്പ് വലിയ വാര്‍ത്തയായി മാറുകയും കേരളമാകെ കൊലപാതകരാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിന്റെ ഭീഷണിയിലാണ് എന്ന അന്തരീക്ഷം സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

  ഇനി നമുക്ക് മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്റെ കുറിപ്പിന്റെ വിശദാംശങ്ങള്‍ പരിശോധിക്കാം. മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്റെ വസതി തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് മുടവന്‍മുകളിലാണ്. അവിടെ അമ്പതുവര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രീയകൊലപാതകവും അരങ്ങേറിയിട്ടില്ല.

• അതിനടുത്ത് തിരുമലയില്‍ എവിടെയോ മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ ഒരു രമ്യഹര്‍മ്യം പണിതുയര്‍ത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആ ഭാഗത്തും അരനൂറ്റാണ്ടിനിടയില്‍ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രീയ കൊലപാതകവും നടന്നിട്ടില്ല.

• പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് വീടുള്ളത് കൊച്ചിയിലാണ്. അവിടെ ഗുണ്ടാസംഘങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയിലുള്ള കൊലപാതങ്ങളല്ലാതെ രാഷ്ട്രീയകൊലപാതകം ഉണ്ടായിട്ട് എത്രയോ നാളായി.

• ചുരുക്കത്തില്‍ ഈ മഹാനടന് ഭയപ്പെടാതെ പുറത്തിറങ്ങി നടക്കാന്‍ പറ്റില്ല എന്ന് പറയാവുന്ന ഒരു സാഹചര്യവും കേരളത്തില്‍ എവിടെയും ഇല്ല. ഇതാണ് സത്യം എന്നിരിക്കെ പ്രാദേശികനിലവാരത്തില്‍ സംഭവിച്ച, എല്ലാവരാലും നിരാകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു കൊലപാതകം മുന്‍നിര്‍ത്തി കേരളം മുഴുവന്‍ കൊലപാതകഭീഷണിയുടെ പിടിയിലാണ് എന്ന് വിലപിക്കുകയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ചെയ്തത്. ഇത് വലിയ രീതിയിലുള്ള തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിക്കലാണ്. ഏകദേശം ഈ ദിശയിലുള്ള പ്രവൃത്തിയാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങളും ഏറ്റെടുത്തിട്ടുള്ളത് എന്ന് പറയാതെ വയ്യ.

  ഒരു സംഭവം മുന്‍നിര്‍ത്തി സാമാന്യവല്‍ക്കരണത്തിന് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ തുനിയുമ്പോള്‍ മുഴുവന്‍ മലയാളികളും രാഷ്ട്രീയ ഹിംസയോട് പ്രതിപത്തിയുള്ളവരായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കപ്പെടും. കേരളത്തിന്റെ ജനാധിപത്യപ്രക്രിയയില്‍ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പങ്ക് വഹിക്കുന്ന, ഏറ്റവും വലിയ പാര്‍ടി കൊലപാതകികളുടെ കൂട്ടമാണ് എന്ന് ചിത്രീകരിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും. ഇത് രണ്ടും മലയാളിക്ക് അപമാനകരമായ കാര്യമാണ്. ഒരു ചെറിയ പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെ സാംസ്കാരിക സവിശേഷതയും ജനാധിപത്യപരമായ പിന്നാക്കവസ്ഥയും മൂലം സംഭവിക്കുന്ന പാതകങ്ങള്‍ മുഴുവന്‍ മലയാളികളുടെയും മേല്‍ കെട്ടിവയ്ക്കുന്ന നിരുത്തരവാദ സമീപനമാണ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ പുലര്‍ത്തുന്നത്.

  ഇന്ത്യന്‍പാര്‍ലമെന്റില്‍ നൂറ്റിയമ്പത്തിരണ്ട് ക്രിമിനലുകള്‍ അംഗങ്ങളായിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്നാണ് കണക്ക്. ഇവരുടെ പേരില്‍ നാനൂറ്റിപതിനെട്ട് ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകള്‍ ഉണ്ട് എന്നും കണക്കാക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകള്‍ ഉള്ളത് മലബാറില്‍നിന്നുള്ള ഒരു കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്സ് എംപിക്കാണ് എന്ന കണക്കും പുറത്തുവന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. ശത്രുക്കളെ ശാരീരികമായി ഇല്ലായ്മചെയ്യുക ജനാധിപത്യപരമായ മറുപടിയല്ല. വ്യക്തിഗതമായ ഉന്മൂലനം ജനാധിപത്യ വിരുദ്ധമാണ്. മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ ആവര്‍ത്തിച്ച് നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പ്രചാരണം ഒരു പ്രശ്നവും പരിഹരിക്കുന്നതിന് സഹായകമല്ലെന്നു മാത്രമല്ല തെറ്റായ സന്ദേശം നല്‍കുന്നതുമാണ്. അനുഭവങ്ങളില്‍നിന്ന് പാഠം പഠിക്കുകയും തെറ്റുകള്‍ ആവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കുകയും വേണമെന്ന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്ന ഭ്രമകല്പനകള്‍ അപായകരമായ സന്ദേശങ്ങളാണ് തരുന്നത്.
