Well, it is interesting to see the debate on us.
I agree mostly with the opinions of Mr. Nandu. The reasons are very simple, if you see the Middle east or fasr East it is well evident that Indians does not get respect amidst other country people.
The fact is that even the Phillipinese does not want to work under Indian boss. He or she will be waiting for the orders from a white skinned (west people) or even an Egyptians to do the work. If phils, Egytpians, Palestines happened to work under Indian bosses, they would seldom pay attention to them. In other case, if their boss were a white skinned person or an Arab, these people would be spinning around them by calling sir, sir!
Just check this point, in a MNC owned by western countries, the western people who does not have the basic qualification ( only having higschool and site experience) would be the positioned as the Head of the Departments. For instance, a plumber will be the HoD or the piping department, an electrician will be the the HoD for Electrical department and so on. Whereas, here the Indians who are having ME/Mtech would be compelled to work under them!
Another instance, just go for a company get together in five or seven star hotels. No matter the company is a Danish, French, or US based. Indians will be treated as a third country fellow. There too, you can find these people will see the skin color. We can see the western people will be sitting or joking together with even Phillipinese, because of their skin color. Whereas, Indians will be side lined!
Can you figure out in an MNC in Middle East, how many Indians are having commanding power? Perhaps very very few. Even though, they have they will be always under the clutches of their UK/US/Arab boss!
Why it happens so?
I too agree with the content of Mr. Gopesh Vijayan, Indian culture is one of the most valuable one. But, we still have to agree to the fact what we can see in front of eyes in Middle East.

Dear Nandu
I am a person working in Abu Dhabi and I can't agree with much of the points expressed by you. I am working in an MNC in UAE as a Client Administrator. I have a Client Base of people from around different nationalities and are keeping in touch with them all the times since my job demands that. For over two years of experience, I never felt anywhere I have been insulted being an Indian or Keralite.
Previously i was working with an MNC (Information Technology) in Chennai for Three Years, and had a lot of meetings with the US, UK and German Clients, where there had not been any instance of misbehavior caused to Indians as like in your mail.
I am proud of my Nation and feels strong respect of being a Keralite. I believe I can raise my head anywhere before the world being an Indian. I feel a higher energy level whenever I face other nationalities, since I am from the world's most civilized and cultured Nation. I feel high Self-Respect being an Indian.
India is the country with the highest educated and well qualified youth. Our culture teaches us the best values which we could be applied in our life. We are having much advanced technology as well as one among the strongest military in the world. A number of richest companies in the world are possessed by Indians and successful Indian Entrepreneurs could be found everywhere in the world. Indians are one among the best business innovators in the world. A large chunk of Doctors, Engineers as well as the scientists working in the United States are Indians. We are not behind anyone in any matter to the world.
I think it might be a matter of self-respect that makes the difference in thinking between me, you, Mr. John Thomas and Mr. Murali. Our perspectives are different and the way we view the things happening around are different. We value our opinions and hence I think a conclusion will not be possible.
Going through the mail of Mr. Nandu I want to comment upon certain things,
First of all, I don't feel anybody is trying to insult anyone here other than just expressing their opinions and perspectives.
The Malabaris might be replaced with Philippians, Bangladeshis, or Pakistani workers. The major reason behind this is,
(i) Keralities dare to demand the appropriate wages for the job he is doing. He won't work for lower wages like the other nationalities do.
(ii) Keralites dare to Strike for the Work Place Rights. It is because he is having high self respect. He won't tolerate any kind of activities/policies insulting him. He will respond to it. Hope this is a positive attribute.
(iii) Of-course, the traits like Cheating, Insulting, Shouting, Teasing, Rape etc is done by Kerlaiteis but it could be found everywhere in the world and are done by every nationalities too.
I have also heard only good opinions about Keralites regarding "Work" if you compare with the Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Also in most of the organisations it is found the emergency or special tasks that requires more responsibility are mostly assigned to Keralaites.
Regarding the Bomb Blasts, I just want to remind you about the Bomb Blasts/Attacks happened in London, Saudi Arabia, Srilanka, Turkey, Yemen, Libya, Germany, Bengladesh, Pakistan, Afganistan and 09/11 (USA). India is a nation with huge diversified population and hence the blasts may happen, but does this means Indians are ignored anywhere? Bomb blasts and terrorist attacks are now not a rare sight anywhere in the world.
Regarding the Capital Punishment for Afzal Guru and Mohammad Kasab, for India, it is an International Issue. They are the sole evidence India is having to prove the hand of external agencies in different issues happened in India. A lot of procedures has to be completed before taking such an action. Sympathetically or Emphatically this action could not be done. It is also a issue related with the Indian Foreign Policies. It is not our inability to hang these guys but due to our international compliance.
Regarding the "Permanent Membership in UN" - The permanent members in the United Nations - General Assembly are just Five Members, which became the members when the UN were formed, where by the time India was not at all an Independent Country. Our diplomats are trying their best to make India a Permanent Member in the UN. Hope it could be accomplished soon.
Though India is not a permanent member, it has a Permanent Mission to the United Nations, under Diplomat Mr. Harideep Singh Puri. India is also a member to the UN - Security Council with a support of 187 Countries out of a total of 192. Do you still think Indians are ignored or not respected?
India is an active member to the United Nations with notable contributions and also pays a significant amount to the UN General Budget. It also takes active part in the UN Peace-keeping Missions.
Keeping All the Money in Swiss Bank - Not only in India, but to the whole world, the people invest their "Black Money" in Swiz Banks. It is not because they don't have trust in their own countries banks but since the Black Money is illegal always people prefer to deposit it in foreign banks which makes themselves safer. (I am sorry but, Being a well experienced person you don't about the purpose of depositing money in Swiz Banks?)
Anyhow I was just watching the debate since from the beginning between Mr. John Thomas and Mr. Murali, but I never anyone is trying to abuse or insult the other. The perspectives may differ as per the views or the way you look at the world.
If the whole world is insulting or ignoring Indians, No doubt India could not have developed these much of Successful Entrepreneurs. I believe how much we respect the other that much we will be gaining ourselves.
Mr. Nandu and Mr. John Thomas, I understand you are having global exposure and experience. I respect it too. But with my perspectives I never feel my motherland is anyway inferior to the world.
Anyway, we all agree Mr. Yesudas, who is the subject here is the biggest FOOL seen till now. I just hate him being outspoken, selfish and talking stupidity.

You are just insulting Mr John thomas for Nothing.
Its not because of a Nobel prize . But all over the world Indians do not have that much respect.
You teased Mr John about going abroad and seing only "O" as world
but here in UAE also. Malbaris are not respected and Indian workers are dismissed or terminated from many fields to replace with Bangladeshi, Pakisthani and Philipino workers since they do not plan strikes, not into too much politics etc.
I have a club here and members are from SA, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Philipines, Iran, Hungary etc.
Most of them has the same bad opinion about Malbaris. When u say u are from Kerala they ask" Malbari?" My god are you Mallu?
why? because we know (like you just did to Mr John), only to tease, Insult, shout, and also cheat the trust, like apple a day and corruption also rape with the new name peedanam.
No body is inviting indian workers to come to other countries. How many times the extremists blast bombs in main cities? Is our prime minister or president show courage to hang the two main culprits in Jail?
Are we permanent member in UN?

I have travelled to more than 7 countries and I am witness to many , including our own yesudas type guys blaming and insulting India and i used to spend lot of time correcting their wrong beliefs .
In a lift if we stand with many nationalities, just imagine one Indian gets in
if the mobile rings..He talk loud as if the lift is mainly for him only.
He will not use a perfume or spray to kill his " chala kkari mathikkari odor."
he wont look at others and smile or say Good morning , instead he shows a face as if without him the world will not survive
We always need a white skin to rule us, before British not Italian.
