[www.keralites.net] 11 Places You Must Check Out If You're Spending The Day At Paharganj

Marketed variously as a backpacker's paradise and the shanty next to Connaught Place, Paharganj's major USP is its adaptability to individual aesthetics – ranging from a photographer's paradise to a window shopper's nightmare. It's strewn with shops selling tea, leather goods, mattresses, novelty groceries and a myriad of other things, which can honestly be quite daunting. But for your convenience, we've broken down a list of places to chill and shop at, at Paharganj. So brave a five minute auto ride from CP to Pahar and strike it off your bucket list!

Shop

Sheetal Exports

Come here for the impressive collection of bags ranging from totes to clutches – available even in suede. This shop is a definite must-visit for their genuine leather products at fairly reasonable prices.

Shop no-T-37, 6 Tooti Chawk, Paharganj

Ashu Fashions

Quite popular with the college crowd, and fairly so, this shop has hands down the best selection of leather boots and bags (for such sweet deals) that we've seen in Delhi. With two lethargic pups acting as the shop's mascots, there's really no way to give this store a miss. The shop is also famous for its dresses – pick the leather shifts up to add up your It Girl points.

Shop no-1606, Main Bazaar, Paharganj

Jurek's Jewellery

Seller and exporter of silver, precious and semi-precious stones and macramé jewellery, this cornershop has the best (and cheapest!) collection of unpolished gems that we've come across in all of Delhi. Pick a few pieces up for yourself, as well as for your friends here.

Shop no 1553, Khanna Cinema Main Market, Paharganj

Vishal Footwear

Famous for their gladiator chappals and embroidered jootis, this place is an essential pitstop for everyone looking for the newest addition to their shoe closet.

5083, Main Market, Paharganj, New Delhi-55

Indian Tea Shop

Located along one of the many roundabouts in the market, this store sells a wide range of teas such as cinnamon, saffron, mango as well as the usuals like Darjeeling and Oolong.

T-373, Chowk 6 Tooti, Main Bazar, Paharganj

Eats

Everest Cafe

One of the few places in Delhi serving authentic Nepalese cuisine, they are also renowned for their selection of teas as well, to sip on while browsing through the old Lonely Planets scattered everywhere. Come here for the laid-back atmosphere on a rainy day and easy conversation.

H No 4591 Dal Mandi. Main Bazaar, Paharganj

Golden Cafe

Famous for their quick home delivery and generous portions, the USP of the cafe is definitely the generous portions of hot food served, not the décor, which is more like a college canteen (give this place a miss if you're looking for a quick Insta tag). Come here for the yaki gyoza, honey chili potatoes and the talumein soup and the bamboo fried rice.

1, Nehru Bazar, Panchkuian Road, Paharganj

Sam's Cafe

The legendary Sam's in Paharganj, strike this one off your bucket list post sampling the falafel {served with pita and hummus} and the schnitzel. USP is the great view you get of both the jumbling mess that is Paharganj and the pristine skyline of Connaught Place.

Vivek Hotel, Main Bazaar,Paharganj, New Delhi

The Shim Tur

One of the only restaurants in Delhi serving authentic Korean cuisine, this restaurant is a little hard to locate, seeing that it is situated on the second floor of an anonymous building. Smiling Korean warriors painted on the wall greet you into the cafe, where you have both indoor seating as well as a terrace cafe, supplied with its own bookcase as well. Do feast on the seaweed soup, and soya chicken.

Navratn Guest House, Tooti Galli, Main Bazar, Paharganj

Drink

My Bar

The legendary My Bar of Paharganj greets you at the entrance to the market, when you step off from the metro station. An eternal college favourite, the bar is divided into two sections – a basement which is the designated smokers' area and the regular ground floor. The walls are adorned with posters of everyone from AC/DC to Celine Dion, and the sound system frequently blares tinnitus inducing Calvin Harris style EDM. But irrespective of how polished we might get, this place has a soft spot in every true Dilliwala's hearts.

5136, Main Bazaar, Near Rama Krishna Ashram Metro Station, Paharganj, New Delhi

Sam's Bar

Located right beside the aforementioned Sam's cafe, this bar has all the quintessentially Paharganj elements – it's shady, the liquor is fairly cheap, and goras are always slipping in and out. Not known for their particularly extensive bar menu, come here for the affordable rates.

1548, Vivek Hotel, Main Bazar, Paharganj, New Delhi
